Beo. So are you saying the value of your rental house has doubled, but the rent you charge has stayed the same? If so, I think you need to put the rent up. Also if you compare the vod sp with house prices, house prices have doubled in the time that the vod sp has halved , approx. so should not be compared. If I bought vod today the divi yield on my investment would be about 9%. If then the sp falls to half what it is now, 40p approx, & the divi stays the same, my investment divi yield would still be 9%, but the divi yield at the lower price would be double that,18% so only aplies to new investors, not those who bought at the higher price. Beo. I totally dissagree. You should always base your yield on your average purchase price, unless you want to delude yourself. Of course if you are buying today, thinking of selling, or just comparing, then that is different.

Thanks sidi, but of course market corrections are very common, but how do know when they are going to happen? You need to know before they happen, not afterwards. But great that you are doing well. Hello s.i.d.i. I would be interested to know if you make money dipping in out of shares as you appear to do? It has never worked for me, & suspect for most in & out investors. I hope it works for you though. What is your secret? Apart from having a crystal ball of course. You say you wait for the next cycle of retreats, what do mean? When do you get back in? Don't forget your costs, I.E. stamp duty, spread & broker commision is the only advice I would give to any rookie in & out investors. We all think we can beat the market? Apart from me of course, I know I can't, unless I am very lucky.

For most middle east investors to break even they need the sp to go way above £1. (look at historic middle east deals). I think it will & they think it will, how about you lot?

As for making the institutions richer & the average punter guessing, the latest off book trades have been good for all vod shareholders, only bad for shorters,which suites me fine. I am happy for the big boys pushing the vod sp up with there off book trades, I would rather they save money, than the brokers making money with there charges & spread, which presumably they save by doing it off book.
