The future looks promising . . .12 Jan 2021 21:36
I think the immediate reaction to today's RNS from the few comments on this BB is too negative by half. Without getting too technical in response - the RNS has all the detail - here's why I think we can feel more positive and that the share at current prices will seem to be a great investment opportunity:
- They've declared that 2020 is likely to be $15,000,000 turnover and they have said that they are likely to be on target for 2021 of $30,000,000 and will be cash-flow positive for the year ahead and are forecasting a profit.
- They have excellent hardwood concessions, and the bulk of their current business is in Gabon which has a stable and respected government. They operate on a sustainable forestry basis and are noted for their staff welfare.
- They are providing, and have committed to continuing, quarterly trading reports published very close to quarter end. We will be able to quickly discern if the BOD's confidence is misplaced or not.
- They are attracting high calibre staff and where share options have been given, share dilution is well protected by very demanding performance targets.
- They've recognised the high net worth of veneer production and by year end will have doubled output so they are following the clearly laid-out management plans expressed at the placing last August.
- They've done their first shipment to the US which is a massive importer of high-end hardwoods. The whole lumber market has base prices that have doubled in most cases over the last 2 years - this has to one of the principal reasons why, now that they are finally focused on a single industry, Woodbois, short of corruption or total mismanagement, will achieve massive profits quarter by quarter.
- My one concern is the report of such a large $2m theft from Ivory Coast - they say that has only just come to light in the last few days (report says: post period end). So we can expect to hear more of that in the coming weeks.
- Recognising the massively negative impact Covid-19 has done to most UK business, Woodbois looks like it has managed the impact well and this and the other points above is why I think the future looks promising and why I will continue to hold the shares.
