I have to say this is an amazing result for our test certainly exceeded my expectations. Considering this is a British test by a British company I am surprised we haven't seen more mainstream media press attention yet. I suspect they are not allowed to publish anything until a certain time due to a press embargo and I suspect the embargo will end at 5PM today as I have a strong feeling we will feature prominently on the Boris Press conference today.
I have a feeling we will find out about our lateral flow test this coming week. As I don't think this is Innova tests.

I think this was what was being talked about by Catching pigeons. Two bullet points of interest new test that halve time to identify new strains and another bulletpoint that the Government will test every civilian twice a week, key word "test themselves"

It was weird just tried to buy some shares on AJ Bell for MKA and it wouldn't let me buy any unless I filled a US and Canadian tax form why is this the case as this is a UK listed company?
Paul Waugh is a very respected Westminster Lobby Journalist. If he has written this it is true. I have been following his morning briefing newsletter Waugh zone for years and he basically has connections to a number of MP's and Lords through his years of experience as a journalist.
So this sounds promising for us as the PCR mega labs have been postponed according to the I. So either the Government are going all in on LFT's or the PCR mega labs are being replaced by BAMS. That is my guess anyway.

I agree Neutronic but I feel the Government didn't really bother defending the crappy Innova tests as they saw it as a stop gap and it wasn't worth wasting political capital over and also it was a bit rubbish. This time they will push our "British Tests" as "World Leading" and any criticism of it will be defended strongly by Government and advisors as they know how important this test is .
I wonder who this is. We are so going to get announced on Monday.

I don't know what to make out of that RNS. Looks like a mess to be honest. If AE gets to add their own directors to the board surely they will give themselves a very good deal but on the other hand the current board need a placing so...
This happened to me on AJ Bell too! Maybe we might be coming out of suspension soon.
That is the bulk of the email there is a bit about a training webinar for staff which will be sent to us in due course.
The Department of Health and Social Care is commencing the national roll-out of Lateral Flow Tests (LFT) to care homes.
This email is for care homes in England only. Communication will be sent out to care homes in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland soon.
Lateral Flow Tests (LFT) are rapid COVID-19 tests which can be used for:
scheduled visitor testing
increased resident testing
increased staff testing
This is in addition to the current PCR regular retesting in care homes.
This email provides information about the LFT roll out and how you can best prepare. Further information will be sent in the coming weeks which will include the exact details of when your LFT kits will arrive and the support available to you.
How does LFT work?
LFT is a new technology which enable rapid display of COVID-19 test results within 20-30 minutes and do not require a lab to process. The LFT tests can be self-administered via nasal and throat swabs similar to the current PCR tests.
Your care home will receive a delivery of LFT that you can use to test scheduled visitors.
We will be providing you with access to online training to prepare for the testing, as well as materials to prepare your home and visitors.
What are your next steps?
You do not need to take any action at this time.
In the coming weeks, you will receive an email that will confirm delivery of your LFT kits, as well as specific instructions on how to undertake this testing, including further details on preparing your care home and visitors for this process.
Your delivery will include:
one box of LFT kits
one box of universal PCR test kits
one box of supplementing kit
LFT kits can be stored at room temperature and should be kept separate from other test kits.
Preparing your care home for scheduled visitor testing
Whilst you await this further information, please consider how your care home can best prepare for this new testing process in order to test scheduled visitors.
Key things to consider include:
preparing a designated entrance where visitors can put on PPE before interacting with others. If a visitor must come through the same entrance as others to access this area, they will need to put on PPE outside first, before entering the building
preparing a designated area for testing where a visitor can wait whilst awaiting their LFT result. This area will need to be away from the main part of the home, so a visitor does not interact with any other staff or residents prior to receiving their test result
whether your testing area may be set up either indoors or outdoors. The specific configuration of your care home’s testing area will depend on infrastructure and environmental constraints
taking stock of your PPE and ensuring you have enough for visitors if required (see PPE section below)
making space in your home to store LFT kits separately from your other kits
Further preparation considerations will be highlighted in the webinar, but please consid
@Wigly sure I don't mind but how do I add a picture or screenshot to a bb message. Sorry if this is a stupid question.
@oneknows actually 11 posts :)
I am a relatively new and young investor who saw interest rates collapse and stuck it into a couple of shares a couple of months ago and only engage when I feel like I can contribute constructively to the bb. I will let you guys and gals know what it turns out to be as we are probably down the list of priority care homes as the capacity of each care home is in the teens.
My Parents own two care homes in the South East and 10 minutes ago received an email from the Department of Health informing them that they will receive test kits for PCR and also LFT. The email placed a lot of emphasis on LFT and barely mentioned PCR (only that it willk be part of the shipment). It described the LFT as a nasal swab that should produce a result within 15-20 minutes. I hope it is Avacta because god help us if we are reliant on an innova test kit. The shipment is supposed to arrive in the coming weeks so it is still a little vague.
So my sister is a student at the University of Southampton and I basically "encouraged" her to take part in the trial. It is still ongoing once every three week she spits in a tube and hands it in and by the sounds of it they process it in a lab. I think it is the Optigene test. Anyway one of her friends also doing the trial was tested negative under the saliva lab based test but was tested positive under PCR so I guess it isn't going well whatever that test actually is. But to answer your question @onassis it is still ongoing.
They put emphasis on a rapid test that can detect covid before onset of symptoms. So clearly antigen at least.
Thanks @ Poundcake that does sound exciting perhaps they are making room for our mass spec machines in those new Government super labs :)
What exactly is the pro for mass spec as opposed to the current process being used by the Government. I am mainly invested for the saliva test and cancer but hadn't really looked into this aspect of Avacta. Like I know Mass Spec allows more test results within a day but by how much more?
Lol! That has made my weekend! I bet TW and his crew are really sweating. Hopefully this is the last time we see that fish boy and chalker chaps :) Always believe in the almighty AZ this will be such an asymmetric battle AZ vs TW we all know who wins.
