So I ask onename as a reader, and I’m open to learning from anybody on this, how many shares do you reckon have been borrowed and actually sold short? Ie. How many or %age to be bought back theoretically according to Ortex do you think?

Onename takes a view, or reads, that utilisation is not a ‘sold’ short, but a %age borrow of those available for such.

I don’t know or I wouldn’t be asking about it’s reliability too. I presume they must get their info from brokers and so on, with short positions under 0.5% not being tracked?

I’m wondering if there’s anyone who understands what the Ortex short data really adds up to. You know, simple question, 30th October, am I right in thinking that out of 58.78m on loan, 51.5% of them have been sold short, done and dusted, (and to be returned ) - with profit in mind or as hedges?

I mention it because a lot has been made of shorters, and the higher figure on loan is often quoted. Not sure what to make of the conversations I read on here.
