In passing, Newcrest had provisions within their accounts for mine closures, as a total. Newmont will have inherited those provisions. Don’t know how accurate they were, but it’s not as though they will have in due course to scratch around for closure costs, if they took that course.

It depends on what Newmont want to achieve with their portfolio moving forward over many years, and in the region. Its plain press conjecture, reports, cannot be relied upon as pointing the way.

It’s been obvious for ages that for Newmont and the money men, Telfer and Havieron are a job lot. Mine rehab has been a sticky subject on here. Perhaps there’s a deal to be done on those costs, if Newmont are determined to shift the lot. They will of course know, that as planned the processing plant is an integral part of the Havieron project.

I’ve never seen why Newcrest/Newmont would be busting a gut to get rid of assets so close in mining terms to making money after years of investment. Newmont have the option of capitalising on that investment.

I’m guessing we’ll get to FS anyway, when they can work the money out.

I wouldn’t be anticipating a large ‘special divi’ either with old miner Day at the helm. He wants Ggp to be pulling revenue out the ground, so if he loses Hav he’ll be casting about for another such opportunity, if he hangs about.

As chat boards go, time to talk up them acquiring Ggp! Or keeping as is.

Nobody will be overkeen to buy into this prior to possibility of a huge debt/equity fandango on the horizon.

Telfer’s somewhat limited, but still profitable. If gold price increases, more so, so Newmont won’t be losing on Telfer over envisioned time frames. Newcrest would have made multiples more last year, but their gold hedging worked against them.

I suspect there’s a strong option of getting to FS. Knowing what you’ve got before determining how it might fit over a 5-10 year capital allocation and sequenced business plan.

Longer the better, if they are to divest, in my view. If all goes well, it will then be nearer to providing revenue for Ggp, 30% of capex.

If Newmont are to retain, perhaps we’ll hear sooner rather than on the time-scale mentioned.

They may want to. And be able to. Newmont will have their say too, within their own standards and approach to whatever flexibility is possible. Perhaps it’s possible to be convinced 20% is nailed on minimum. I’ve convinced myself.

Not long to wait. No sign of rowing back on timing of MRE to market at large. I think old Day will have to explain it having regard to the background and his self-imposed ‘deadline’ if he doesn’t come good on his own account.

The KPIs, including resource increase of 20%, may give some idea of expectations.

Nothing’s guaranteed, but I continue to take the only view I find it relatively easy to take - if it’s good for Wyloo at either 8.2p or their aspiring 9p average, then it’s good for me.

Them being miners and all with an insider’s appreciation.

Wyloo are obviously key to this and corporate decisions, as miners themselves, and with an absence of institutional investors 3% +, and the ability to get 14%.

Other than that it’s the fragmented large nominee holdings.

Annual report gives first insight I think into new management pay and allowances. Probably alright taking into account the co-investment options are one-off, and they’ll pay for their shares.

All based around Greatland becoming a ‘mid-Tier’ producer.

I found the whole Don Durett thing quite amusing from start to finish, the interview and all, and then he turns out to be a bit of a nutter. Doesn’t make him stupid of course. Each to his own, and Tom Cruise is making money.
