back dated pay rise, fair enough, if it's been owed.... substantial, now there's a different term all together, pay rises must balance with the books, and with the share price in what could be described as a bit of a crap place, you should have some idea how the business stands in regards to being financially healthy, dividend cancelled, and the sharks circling owning nearly, what now, 20-25% of the company?.... can't have what isn't available, not to mention that the company still has a huge pension responsibility, you can't have everything, something has to give, and right now the dividend has gone, the market value is greatly diminished, pensions were re-worked last dispute but still a big burden........ and you what, want to work shorter weeks ?
not that long ago, and in today's day and age probably frowned upon, but you all remember the jokes about the foreign run local corner shops..... well, they were only able to open those ours and make a go of it because they were prepared to put in a solid weeks work, now don't get me wrong, i'm not advocating for a 60 hour week... although a lot of you seem happy to do that, because it involves a boat load of extra money.... but in my mind, a standard 8 to 5 working week (45 hours) which used to be the standard, for the hard working englishman who were the backbone of this hard working nation (as claimed by posters of yesteryear) seems to have gone by the wayside and been replaced by workshy f'ers that want to turn up late, cause 8:15 is close enough to 8 and finish early every opportunity they get, whilst complaining that 45 hours is too long
