The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
Hi Kalan,
Yes I just buy and hold, I work full time so don't have time to think about trading, hold just over 800,000 in JLP sold out of SLP just after the pandemic at about 75p, got frustrated that they didn't seem to have any plans for their massive cash pile.
Every one gets eff on their face, no point in gloating, we are all small time in regards to the institutiions.
Kalan,
I have been continually annoyed with the constant bickering on this chat, but thankfully it seems to have abated for now I believe mainly due to the absence of one individual who shall remain un-named.
I'm glad to see you back on here, we had a few chats pre pandemic, you balanced view is always welcome by me at least and I'm happy to see that you have kept some sense of humour :)
"I hope this meets with approval. My Breath is also bated"
I don't much but read a lot of the comments and I have to agree with this post.
My 5 year old daughter conducts herself with more decorum then some of the supposed adults on this board, some comments on hear irritate the $%^& out of me, but I read absorb and move on, without the need to call people clowns, liars, idiots fools, etc.
Would be nice if we could have adults posting on this board again.
The problem with Bushy's viewpoint is that it is black or white, because Roan is not producing copper concentrate to generate 10000 tons of copper cathode per annum, it is a complete failure, all the investment that's gone into it might as well have been burnt.
If only everything in life was so simple, Roan does produce copper concentrate, enough for 6000 tons of copper per annum, approx, only 60% of planned capacity but not something anyone would class as a complete failure, not a complete success either.
JLP has not abandoned the project and are working to achieve the original planned capacity, sure more investment required, but there are enough tailings secured for something like 20 years, so the investment is worth it.
Sorry but fusion reactors are still at early stage development, countries are not racing to build them.
Its a laughable investment, means nothing, given how much they get paid for such poor performance.
All he's doing is trying to convince people he's truly invested so that he can retain his position and salary for longer.
Net Debt in H1 2022 was $60 Million by the way.
Maybe something to do with the net debt of $122 Million, a reported additional loan of $20 Million, though it is not clear if the 122 figure includes this additional loan with 77 Million of this to be repaid in 2024.
A pre-tax profit for H1 2023 of 4.1 Million.
I wouldn't want to speculate as to how much money they have in the bank but they need to come up with at least $69 Million by the end of next year.
That is hilarious, and so clever too, I guess you got the idea of dropping the intelligence when you caught sight of yourself in the mirror.
Yes and the stock exchanges use the market makers to facilitate the trading on them, hence answering your question
"Why do I need a MM when there is already a buyer and seller"
The MM connects the buyer to the seller
Buttermilk,
Who do you personally know who want to buy the shares you own?
You certainly could sell shares directly to someone but you would have to find that person, agree a price, arrange for transfer of the shares and monies, the persona you are trading with would most likely not be known to you, so you would needs lawyers involved to mediate the transfer of both, and probably escrow accounts so that the transfers of each could be properly monitored by lawyers representing both parties.
This is what market makers are for.
And who are you offering to sell your shares to Bushy, you posting them on Ebay, Amazon Market Place, opening up a stand on the side of the road that says "Share's for Sale"?
No your not, your going into you share trading platform and you are stating how many share's you want to by or sell, the market makers match your requested trade to potential buyers/sellers dependant on what you are trying to do.
You are not making a market and you are certainly not specifying the price, you are simply standing, figuratively speaking, in a street and shouting "I want to sell shares"
MM facilitate the trading of shares between buyers and sellers, if someone is selling a share there is someone buying that share, it really is that simple.
Zero trades simply means that there is no-one willing buy shares at the price that sellers are willing to sell, and vice versa
Every trade has a buyer and a seller, where do you think shares go when they are traded, some sort of eskrow account which stores them whilst the seller withdraws money from the same account at a price that they dictate.
Don't tell me you think the market makers are buying an stock piling them?
Some comments are just moronic
Rhodium has also edged up a little
Careful with that optimism, it may attract comments from some users suggesting that this would result in a $15 Billion loss.
Omniscience must be such a burden for some people
Don't accuracy get in the way of a good rant.
I've been thinking about that for a while, but I imagine that processing of current mined material might be more efficient then historic processes meaning that, maybe, historic tailings provide a better opportunity.
It may make sense to provide consultation to company's and build reprocessing facilities for them as a part of the business, but would this provide a better return then building their own facilities and owning the tailings directly.
