Good evening All, hope you are well.
I caught myself guilty of too much share price watching last week so had to take some time afk to preserve sanity. I was refreshing some screens so often that Google asked me to prove that I wasn’t a robot - a bit rich coming from an algorithm based search engine with AI pretensions!

I have only skim read over the last few days posts so apologies if I have missed anything I should have responded to.

S – you asked if I am still in FEVR. Yes, slightly different approach having sold on a peak and bought back but with a lower volume. My perched shares from last year are still looming a shadow and I don’t want to get caught overweight there, but if the rise continues then the perched may soon come back into play.

Thanks for the info on IG. I opened a demo account but then remembered why I didn’t follow up last time – the demo and most of their online advice seems biased towards spread betting and CFDs. Does the live account also have a standard share buying and selling option to hold long, such as I’m used to with II, or do you just manipulate the CFD option to allow you to hold long (if that’s even possible, not clear in the demo)?

The demo has been good for getting used to the workspace and how to accumulate the information I would like to see and use each day, very impressed with many aspects of it. Still to look at the technicals but will set up some dummy trades tomorrow and take it from there.

S: No, and no apologies required; advice appreciated but actions always my own. I’m still holding my original buy at 1735 yesterday - almost sold it at net nil when it was back up there later on but I wanted to prove my gap fill to £20 theory (so fully expecting the cold, clammy palm of hubris to apply itself to my face in due course!). Or I may just be about to bail out for a small loss as still well covered by my gain the day before!

S: Thanks for that. I had a brief look at IG earlier this year but may look again. I had company profit shares held on NatWest from 20 years ago which merged? into TDW first and then I stayed with II through familiarity/inertia. I tend to have Google charts open for anything I’m tracking along with using the Quote button, but I rarely trade intra day. Weekly and 1-3 month patterns tend to suit me best.

I’m on II, £19.99pm. They want another £24pm for their Quotestream service and I’m trying to convince myself to upgrade. I’m sure the financial gain will outweigh the cost but I’m still just an enthusiastic amateur and need to do more research to make the next level work for me – and I know the way my mind works I’ll get bogged down in detail that will distract me. I’ll get there.

S: Yeah, I missed the 70p range early on but then bought in too early at 1735 on the second drop. May consider a small second pitch and run if it drops lower. I don’t have live data so any T line hints appreciated, thanks.

T: thanks for the OCDO research. Was considering a second tranche there as well if it dropped below 16 but may have missed that one.

All - LSE are having problems reporting RNS' again today, same as yesterday.

S: There's an RNS stating that one of FEVR's co-founders, Charles Rolls, is stepping down at the AGM in June.

S: I think FEVR may still have good upside but risky given where it’s been recently and slowing UK market. Steady four day run since results, possible inverse H&S completed on the 3 month chart (although I can’t normally read the inverse ones) and was climbing well back up the 20th Jan gap to fill up to £20 until fall back today. Nielsen report said that off trade and online sales of alcohol had leapt during lockdown with tequila and gin the fastest growing in the US where FEVR are targeting growth. Some insti buying recently as well, including Lindsell Train now over 5% from their first entry at end Feb up to 8 April TR-1.

Any fall back first thing may entice me back in, but I’m unsure about it. I still have some held from last year, perched after I had a learning experience about cutting losses. Perched is a common theme in my portfolio :(

My imaginary cat had kittens this afternoon so plenty to go round!
It then pressed the sell button on FEVR for a nice profit that may yet turn into tears tomorrow :( No patience, cats.
It refuses to tell me what it did with my OCDO funds at lunch time but I’m now worried that it bought me back in at the same price I impatiently sold at his morning, and then watched it drop this afternoon. That may have been what induced the kittens. That and the price of oil.

Thanks T, I appreciate that perspective. The sharp peak on 18 March just before results didn’t look sustainable so I was seeing the relatively gradual rise since as a stronger trend, but now that you mention 30% … hhhm?

RNS out this morning, another fail to show on LSE but is on the other board – TU to be issued next Wed. Possibly another run up towards then?

S: I agree about OCDO getting away, and there was me saying just yesterday that a more patient approach was paying off this last week, I gave up too soon. Although, interesting point, T, about the steep rise. It could still come down hard but wasn’t expecting it to do so early on third day rising.

S: Just bailed out at 1667 on that spike. Boredom setting in, not good. I like the idea of tranches as well, helps me justify the overly complex spreadsheet I use to keep track, but too often I fail to commit a second or third tranche so losing out in places.

No, spread was too wide, I should have placed a limit sell to chance it. I’m not sure it won’t have another more sensible rise again soon though. Or do I lob a second tranche at it after a bounce down? Dilemma.

In other news - the economy is saved. Greggs are re-opening in Newcastle next Monday.

Held off, but my new found patience is causing button anxiety. I’m now hoping T’s past experience of OCDO will bear fruit – finished on the rise so could spike first thing then fall back? Also only 2 days rising (although quite steep) so hoping its too early for real profit taking, chance of an out and back in tomorrow.

Happy Monday all, market did seem a bit sideways like last week again but I share the optimism/hope for a new base to move on from. Generally finding a few days extra patience paying off with SPs at the moment, not my default state! Today’s Boris bounce back seems to have stalled though – maybe saw his in-tray.

OCDO trying again, maybe this one will stick. 4 days bouncing around my entry point then retreating, such a tease! Motoring past now.

This from one of the O&G BBs: a new word for the dictionary – Trumpid = more stupid than stupid. Injecting household products may explain one thing though, I’m thinking his Sunny D got hooked up to the IV drip.

Good morning all, hope you are all safe and well. I think my last post got lost in the problems LSE was having with excess traffic after Easter although it seems to be running okay the last couple of days. Sorry to hear you were unwell last week T, hope you are back on form.

Anyone else getting sea-sick with all these sideways moving SPs this week? I keep shouting DO SOMETHING at my screen! Need to stop that, it upsets my imaginary cat (please can lockdown end soon?). Wibble!

The Ocado press could be a bit damaging but always difficult to compare when so many offers around. I use Tesco mainly and they scrapped their multi buys (had to really, given they were restricting to 3 items per customer) and not really much on offer since (e.g. Andrex same price as OCDO both before and now, etc.). Difficult comparisons, but TS’ pay awards will currently draw more attention/bias than some other retailers. Will it pass and all be forgotten?

I thought OCDO were going for another rise at their ATH today but seems to have stalled in progress.

T – I think I recall you were following FRES before, are you still there? Very bullish view on II recently and they have leapt since.

Good afternoon folks, hope you all managed to stay safe and well and enjoyed a nice break. I needed those few days away from my screen to reset my thoughts after a few days being flummoxed with SPs last week.

I’ve been tracking OCDO closely today and have still yet to see a proper spike. There’s been a few proto-spikes of around 10-15p before a fall back only to around the trend line, but nothing that wants to stick either way. Was half expecting to sell around 1410 today but still holding off with my twitchy sell finger. I’m wondering now if last Thursday and today are 2 days steady rise, maybe continue into tomorrow/poss Thurs as well before any major drop off?

But I was way out on my tracking last week so I’m not committing/suggesting a second tranche yet :/ If it falls off (inevitably) now that I’ve posted this then a chance to buy more.
