Crimea seems to be having issues regarding Russian support, when Ukraine was skint in the years leading up to the annexation the Donbas was on its Ass and crimea a soviet style run down 1960s version of Bournemouth. Although one restaurant in Alushta had a croc in a tank which I’ve never seen in Bournemouth.
It’s easy to see why there would be an allegiance with a financially supportive Russia as Crimea found out. But they relied on Ukraine for utilities such as water which was rightly or wrongly cut off.
Donbas region was a different story. No real support like crimea which didn’t go down well. Only more recently was the push to take those areas which allegedly have good mineral and oil resources. Now funnily enough I guess crimea seeing the world sanctions are seeing Ukraine as the next cash cow as funds pour in from Europe and USA. The extra benefit would be they can reopen for tourism to the international market rather than just the domestic Russian tourist.
There are a few twists and turns to come in this sorry situation for mankind.
