I can see the attraction of the German market but I think Ocado Solutions will need to team up with an established German retailer to exploit it, so that they can take on REWE on more even terms, especially as REWE are so established online and seem to be something of a German institution.

But, there are plenty of other markets to exploit in partnership or go alone with Kroger or maybe even M&S - why not have a partnership with M&S in the Irish Republic for example - one main CFC in Dublin and maybe two mini CFC's in Cork and Galway is all that would be needed.

Pump up the volume!!!

I am not sure that entering the German market in this way would be a good idea - German supermarkets are generally very high end and it is a very mature market.
Also REWE, the leading German Supermarket Group, have their own online business based on CFC's.

This article from the BBC, now points out the obvious I think, that electric cars will become dominant.
As they point out, their development has passed a tipping point and with the worlds vehicle manufacturers fully onboard, there can only be one conclusion.

Also, with the price of batteries reducing all the time as economies of scale kick in, EV's are rapidly becoming the cheapest vehicles to produce.

This domination certainly doesn't apply to commercial vehicles - HGV's, Buses, Coaches, Trains - so I think that we can still expect some very positive news from China this summer regarding the Weichai Power partnership.

It looks like we will soon find out Kraken - Brent is now over $70.

The Aker system looks good - if there is enough space - maybe AB will opt for that as the complete solution to the Governments emission commitment for AK.

Certainly agree, but that's in the Government's plan with promised joint funding - seems totally OTT to me.

BP's Blue Hydrogen project on Teesside basically provides cover for the whole North Sea Oil Industry because it effectively answers the majority of the most difficult challenges set by the Government to the industry re hydrogen and carbon capture.

If it doesn't work, the whole strategy is shot to pieces and they will need to think again - but that probably won't be known for 8-10 years .

The main concern for Enquest, and probably the only concern on the run up to 2030, is that the Government expect them to reduce emissions at crude extraction sites.
In effect that probably means finding a gas source to power AK - maybe from Bentley or Bressay?
In the longer term they may need to use electric power - joint funded by the oil industry and Government.

I think I read somewhere that they put the clothes aside for 24 hours before putting them back out for sale.
Your idea might work if customers want the same item in a different colour - maybe just have the less popular colours online or to order in store.

The achilleas heal for M&S clothing is that with so many outlets, they need so a large volume of stock to display and sell in the multiple locations. Therefore, they only have to get a few lines wrong and they have dead stock in every store.

Its all tied in together - the Government transition plan is what Government expects the industry to action basically in return for continued exploration and extraction.

First on AB's agenda of commitment's will be reducing emissions as per -
"The sector is committed to decarbonising and, subject to making progress on the shared actions, it will take action to reduce emissions from oil and gas production by 10% by 2025, by 25% by 2027 and by 50% by 2030 (all relative to 2018 baseline), as measurable steps to a net zero basin by 2050."

The other commitments, and there are lots of them, are listed in the Government document - the good thing is that they are all achievable.

Its all speculation but with Ocado positioning itself as a tech company, personally I think that its only a matter of time before they sell the other 50%.

Ocado Group could still get revenue from Ocado Retail via commission service charges as they do with their overseas contracts or they could retain a smaller stake - say 10% - to have access to profits.

The later option would obviously be cheaper in the short term for M&S and probably the preferred option of shareholders.

It just seems a much neater option to have Ocado Retail under full M&S ownership, so they they can give 100% to the business - they are running the retail part of the operation anyway.

You guys are just starting to understand the potential that Ocado Retail will bring to M&S, but it will eventually be far more than you can ever imagine.

The cost advantages and potential of Ocado Solutions to the grocery trade are only just beginning.

The game changer this week is that M&S have also proved themselves, and it is very likely now, I think, that they will be the eventual purchaser of the other 50% of Ocado Retail and have the potential to become the UK equivalent of Kroger.
