Brent has only fallen back to around the five day average - not great that it has this much impact on the SP.

Excellent news and a real practical help for consumers at the busy times of the year - just before kids are heading back to School - ten our of ten.

Brent just took a big dive -looking overbought - maybe also jitters ahead of OPEC+ on Thursday - only temporary.

I think it's this pesky 0.5% short held by Shaw & Co that's creating the downside at the moment, they took it out when the SP was 2104p, so I guess they could be around for a while unless the interims scare them off next Tuesday.

Don't jinx it Valueplus - the SP is just flirting with 2000p at the moment.

Greggs are a good barometer of High Street trading.

This is from their trading update this morning -
" In recent weeks the impact of pent-up demand for retail has reduced but, nonetheless, like-for-like sales growth in company-managed shops has remained in positive territory ranging between one and three per cent when measured against the same period in 2019"

A good indication, I think, that High Street trading is returning to normal and with a reduction in competition, has to be good news for M&S.

The share count would look better after consolidation but it wouldn't make that much difference to the market cap.
Over 50% of the share capital is in sticky hands - that's actually quite good.

I think though, TRX would certainly benefit from a high profile health company taking a stake in the company and bringing new capital to accelerate development - say around a 25-30% stake. IP would also probably invest more to maintain their percentage holding.

It does make all the difference to a growth company to have a big name on board and it certainly pushes up the market cap substantially and keeps shares in sticky hands.

The forward value of an oil company can only be a guess, simply because revenue cannot be determined because the oil price moves around so much.

Therefore, the market value is mainly retrospective based on previous profitability and as we know the record of the last five years or so has been poor.

So, we look to the future with only sentiment to pull up the valuation until profit hits the balance sheet. But at the moment for all sorts of reasons sentiment is poor and until that changes the SP will stay low.

The time will come when things change dramatically that WILL BE on 2nd September 2021 when all is revealed - until then be patient.

Pelham's losses are just on the short Neil - their long position is probably hedging that to the point that they are in profit.

Presumably with this long/short fund they stand to make more profit on their call for the way the stock is heading.

And I should add - selling from the long position at the peaks and then acquiring more shorts.

It explains the volatility here and works well for them when volume is low.

The clue is in the fund name Pelham long/short.
I think it must be a short and long position - if that makes sense - they simply hedge the short with a long position so that they make money on the volatility - probably cashing out the short on the dips and then buying long.

Volume was low today being a Friday - probably more emphasis on profit taking ahead of the weekend.

Buyers less keen to take the risk today ahead of OPEC+ meeting next Thursday - they will probably wait for clues early next week to see which way the cookie crumbles.

Its actually impossible to say where the SP will be this time next Friday - hopefully it will be ridding high at 25p or more but it could just as easily be back below 20p with larger than expected hikes in production pushing Brent back to retest $70.

I don't think that they have to disclose their holding because they didn't buy the shares in the open market.

After studying the issue in more depth I would agree with most of your conclusions about hydrogen and it limited uses for the grid and the mass energy market.
I think though that it will have a place in very power hungry industries such a steel making where the infrastructure can all be integrated in one location - for example on Teesside.

John was also very clear that he has no plans for licencing deals and no plans for extra manufacturing facilities in Europe or elsewhere and that this approach was normal in this industrial sector - this I think gives us great clarity - especially as we know that there is plenty of space for expansion at the factory and cash reserves are now adequate for a couple of years.

Yes, how he reacts to this totally new situation will be very interesting - his much delayed goals for Enquest are close to being delivered - I just hope that he rewards shareholders.

Its interesting to speculate sometimes and with the SP at a lower ebb than usual we could see some action.
