Hoping RNWH has not been involved with the rail problems over the holiday period relating to Kings' Cross. I haven't been able to find any details as to who the contractor is, could be one of any number. Any one else have any details?. May need to watch this tomorrow. Regards and good luck CM

Good evening to you too BT. I will have to give your recommendation for the old Jura a try. Thanks for that. Hope you have plenty in store for the festive period. My portfolio looks very different from this time last year with possibly only HAYT still a member of it, although I think that was a later addition on second thoughts. A real mixed year for the 2 of us. Yes, lets hope for some strong results all round. I am a little concerned about the strength of the recovery in the DOW over the last week or so from threatening to break below 17000 to breaking above 18000; a little too fast for my liking. A Santa rally?, well, he's put his skates on and at that speed hope he doesn't break too many presents as he off loads them!. Re. GBG, I feel what has happened this year is probably down to its growth and share price last year being fast so perhaps this year it was bound to slow down as it matured more. Also, if we look at the market cap. to pre-tax profit from last finals then it does look relatively expensive. However, that isn't to say it won't or can't grow further, I am sure it will. Additionally, GBG pays a decent dividend, especially if you have been in as long as you have. And yes, the general AIM malaise has undoubtably had an effect on the share price too. Big spread has opened up with this share over the last day or so. Probably down to the illiquidity of the share with not a lot in issue and low volume. Real spread on getting a quote seems to be much more reasonable. This also means the share price can rise or fall by a disproportionate amount during the day. I have seen this with other shares I have invested in and hasn't stopped the share from rising well over time, with the occasional set back. Good luck and regards CM

Hello Shan, good to see you hear on what is a very quiet board, hurrah!. RM sees little volume most days and some very peculiar very low trades. Price seems quite volatile with a rather large spread at times. Never sure until day end quite how this will finish. Going a little better than LFC at present, which isn't difficult!. RNS: James Latham announces that Northland Capital Partners Limited, the Company's broker, has arranged a placing ("the Placing") of the Company's shares held by Sir Robert McAlpine Enterprises Limited ("SRMEL"). Following the Placing, the Company has been notified by SRMEL that it is no longer a shareholder in James Latham. The shares were placed at £5.00 each with new and existing shareholders. Commenting on the change in the share register, Peter Latham, Chairman of James Latham, said: "the McAlpine family has been a strong and valuable supporter of the Company over many years and in their place we are pleased to welcome a number of institutional investors onto the share register." The Company has been notified that Meryl Bushell, a non-executive director of James Latham, purchased 5,000 shares in the Placing. Mrs Bushell now holds 9,400 ordinary shares of 25p each in the Company representing 0.05 per cent. of the total voting rights. Wonder why the Sir Robert Mc.Alpine sold all of his holdings for 500p when the market price was around 580p on Friday?. The shares were taken up at that price it would seem, so I would have thought half of those trades showing as sells on Friday were infact buys, but seeing that the market price at the time was higher it would have registered as a sell. Hmm, strange. What is also strange is that I can sell my small holding of 200 shares, now at 547p (up from 536p about 5 minutes ago), but I am unable to buy any at all!. Perhaps they are reserving buys for the big boys. Makes me wonder if something is going on in the background. Share price does seem to be recovering a little, wonder where it will be come day end?. If there was something nasty afoot, you would think those who have bought RMcA shares wouldn't have been interested. I can see nothing obviously wrong from looking at the latest trading update. Good morning DD. Yes, it will have been me on GBG. I have mentioned the Zulu Principle on a number of boards over time. The criteria set within has transformed my investment performance over the years, although is not a guarantee for success (if only!). There are times with the market when it can appear like we are banging our heads against the wall. Lets hope for a good run up to the end of the year for REDDE and all our other investments. Good evening BT, good to hear from you. Yes, 2014 has not been a good year after such a promising start. I am generally down for the year as I expect a majority of folk are. Some stocks in my new look portfolio are doing reasonably well but have been set back by the odd stinker. I'm not sure allowing a joker in the pack is such a good idea nor excusable for some one like me who has been investing so long. Have I given way to wishful thinking rather than proper research?, hope not. Thanks for your comments about "Jura" whisky. I need to find a try before you buy retailer; although that may mean I may get a little tipsy!. No BT, I ALWAYS want to be found by the dogs I can assure you. I was able to "body" for the dogs on Saturday above Buttermere, high up in a coombe, in the snow, wedged in between the boulders. It took 3 hours to find me, by which time I was rather hungry, thirsty and needed a "comfort break"!. A whisky afterwards once off the fell would have been good but I needed to head home. Neither am I going to make loads of money - I invested less than you. Better to keep some funds back to average up should all go well than over invest and regret it later. CM

Re. Robbie Burns - yes. Time has moved on since then and the company would appear to have turned a corner with positive RNSs. I have only recently invested in REDDE. I have looked at the fundamentals etc. and read the RNSs and invested on the back of them. Hopefully, it will prove a good investment, market permitting. Regards CM

Although QTX remained on a watchlist of mine from when I was showing an interest last month, I didn't notice the fall in the share price until late morning when I was checking on share fallers. I was amazed. I too could see no reason for the fall, so it could have been one heck of a tree shake. I seem to remember from all that I had read previously that things were positive. I felt I had missed the boat to invest here. However, with the share price back to where I had looked at investing before and with the share price recovering strongly, I decided to invest and hope that nothing nasty will show its head. Robbie Burns, the Naked Trader, invested in QTX on 7 November at a price of 138.9p and then again on the 17 November at a price of 162p. I would not be surprised if RB has topped up today, unless he knows something we don't. Partypolitics - looks like a very timely purchase on your behalf!. I don't think I would have had the wotsits to invest until I saw some recovery in the share price. Perhaps you bought at a time when it was on its way back up, since the price showing at the time of your post is not necessarily what you paid. Good luck all Regards CM

Looking back through the Naked Trader blog, the share price for Helphire was at 6.48p on the 7 April. At some time it consolidated its shares to 10 old shares for 1 new share (I think) - I wasn't following too closely at the time. Sorry I can't be of more use. CM

Thanks PP for the post. I had thought I had answered the post, but obviously not. Not a long piece, but positive. Nice to see CLL move North today, very much against the market trend for the day. For much of the day my portfolio was nicely up, right up to mid/late afternoon, so was surprised to see it end in the red again. The markets have gone wobbly again and we are back to where we were late October, this time largely on the back of the falling oil price it seems - thought that was meant to be good. Typically the market is looking for something to worry about. Probably not so bad to see a retrace in the indicies so that it can run higher again; just don't know how low they will go. This time I am trying to hold my nerve more. Maybe Santa is being delayed for his rally this year; is that an unseen consequence of global warming?. Regards CM

Couldn't agree more Copout. Looking at most of the metrics here, then BWY should be a buy; low PE, PEG, increasing profit and dividend, a low mkt. cap to pre tax profit (below 10), demand for housing increasing, low interest rates for the foreseeable future. The market is nuts. The strict criteria I use to invest are pretty much all met here yet the share price is down on the day. Expected the opposite. Apparently Citi brokers have downgraded the housing sector so hitting most housing stocks today. Haven't bought in just yet but may invest a wee bit. Regards CM
