Global services is and always has been the problem child...I used to work there and knew about GM's being done for fraud and look at the Italian fraud....this area of BT has never made a profit....(maybe a smidgen a while back)....firstly get rid of GS...useless....there are whole sales teams who dont get fired if the continually miss targets....unheard of in the real world...if you cant sell and make you target month on month.... you walk the plank!...simple as...

oh boy well you dont know your copper technology and the e side...you are right on the fibre side...which is why the company needs to hurry up on the FTTP side...they've been doing this a while but my god they've got a way to go...Meanwhile Cityfibre, Gigaclear and Virgin(lightening) are creeping ahead with a real 21c network.

what about all the pipes and cables which have compressed air....compressed air to keep the water out!....talk about 1950's tech.....thousands are leaky even though they are monitored...and this tech is used to partially delver all the superfast FTTC solutions...no wonder I only get 7mb on my marvellous "fibre" service...and thats only when the steam engine is pumping

going through today....which is nice to see as we hit almost 220....what a difference 6 months can make....just goes to show be greedy when others are fearful....mind you mothercare, carpetright, laura ashley etc scare the bejesus out of me..

I left at 46....the constant conference calls, the monotony of reviews, same old hamster wheel and was there 17 years....I looked around the office one day and thought everyone looked grey, bored and unhealthy...and the final nail was when a complete stranger on the BTC hotdesks wanted to high five me as she had solved her spreadhseet....oh god...get me out of here. Trouble is you can easily become institutionalized which completely stifles creativity and entrepreneurialism...but as you say...enjoy life....there's more to it than powerpoints, endless...endless conference calls/meetings..etc

me too....they wouldnt let me leave even though i clicked the leave button...had to have a severance package but did well out of it getting 7 months...had to fight like you... gone are the days of retiring at 50 with 2 years and full pension...WHAT THE HELL WAS THE COMPANY THINKING!!...who signed off these ridiculous retirement packages??

I see this was the price so not a great return....I can see this rising up and past this figure this year...plus a staggering yield on the dividend...If I was a travel company wanting a great oldie brand I would swoop/takeover for this company now.!!..lets face it ...this is the most affluent sector now esp with interest rates rising now, not younger markets...with rising mortgage rates... on board and will be topping up...this is my big share for the next 12 months

Doing well...new management breathing life back into the business....onwards and upwards to the June results....lets hope these arent as horrific as other retailers e.g Debenhams or Carpetright

It would be absolute financial suicide to throw any money at this....reckon this will fold...and without warning..this will be another BHS...its an old fashioned retail disaster which hasnt adapted to the cyber economy...

How does this company survive and today up almost 2% at >�20/share...??? The stores are boring, products uninspiring...ok they sell books and now have post offices on their estate...but where on earth is the growth coming from- stationery??...bygone retailer worth shorting all the way down.
