There is a big positive: in a couple of weeks we'll all be able to say "next year (2024) we are going to get the dividends again", sounds good, sp must go up accordingly :))
Another good point is the sp now, despite the recent sell off in markets, we're still in the 130s. You've got to be optimistic, if anything...
If next set of results is good again (a billion or more)I guess sp can’t stay down. If all market retraces then we’ll go down less compared to others, provided results are good. If we can’t make money then we don’t deserve to go up. Simple: just wait and see. If our recent numbers and other airlines, airports, etc results, pax numbers are sustainable, we’ll go up, or down less than some other sectors, which we can switch to if we wish. In the absence of a dividend I’m only selling what I need to and not a piece more of my holdings in IAG, which now date back to 2020,I believe. When this rises above a given level I’ll start selling, progressively and if funds available I’ll buy back again if sp retraces. It was 143 last time, too early,I’m waiting for 160s to begin this time around. I’m sure many serious investors here are doing the same, only problem is sometimes the switches aren’t that wise ( iag for evr or shel for iag are the first two that come to mind), or funds are no longer there to buy back, but unless we go down to zero it makes sense to keep accumulating here. Those with funds available recently, last six month’s or so, will one day be big winners. After all it’s money that makes money, oh and yes I’m ,like oil, sometimes very frustrated at the moves of iag sp :)
I didn’t look at the charts, but we must surely have underperformed Lufthansa in the last month or two. I’m an optimist, my Xmas sp prediction would have been 150 plus,or 134+10%, but I now fear Santa won’t come this year. I’ve got time, I can wait. Happy investments to all genuine holders, posters and readers here.
Agree ! The FCA suspended EVR, not LSE, 'to protect investors' and not punish them. I am happier to have it suspended rather than slipping further down on speculations. I put 3% of my capital in this last week and this, up to yesterday, average 77.60. Worth the punt ! If it comes back thank you very much, if not...well, it was fun. Surely the 'may have supplied steel to build tanks' makes me laugh and reminds me of the days when Saddam 'had weapons of mass distructions'. Putin is a g1t, but US and UK leaders aren't angels. Personally I think it will be eventually reinstated and I am happy to wait for years. GLA and have a nice w/e

Another useful reading, hoping that Biden and others wake up. We are counting colds !!!
I’m pleased to say that this morning before going to work I sold 2% of my holding in frustration at 165 then 2% more at 169. As you do,that started a massive rally :) Needless to say I’m still holding onto my core shares and carry on using the money of sales to go long on retracements. The strategy has so far worked, more or less, it doesn’t when I allow my frustration to get over my reason. I hope by doing so to increase my overall pot. I’ve been holding these since just before the ri and will leave only if we get to high 300s by which time I hope BA made me a million :) I recommend all long term holders with loads of shares to do the same, for as long as this keeps going up and, it will work. I just need to perfect the strategy, am hopeful, but this morning didn’t go as I expected it. I congratulate all serious holders and invite all to ignore posts from Fugk azi 1, he’s a vile, uneducated scaremonger, not sure for what reason and he’s definitely not BB who for as much he digress from the topic, he appears to be an articulate writer to me. Wish you all a nice w/e, I’ll certainly enjoy mine :) feeling a little bit closer to my first million dream.
Wearing or not a mask on a plane, once people can start flying again without quarantine, is going to have a very little impact on the number of passenger BA can carry. Let the gates open, planes will be full, with or without masks
Agree with Teddy100, BA is a totally different airline to Easyjet, Ryanair, etc. BA pax aren't all holidaymakers, they carry millions of people going to see family, travelling for work and of course holidaymakers too. I'm sure when results come in the next couple of quarters some will be surprised at how much BA can make, even now. BA management would not put planes in the sky if they were not profitable, at least. I'm confident this sp will eventually go up once the 2 jabs rule comes into effect. The only thing that can push BA down badly, is the appearance of a new strain to make the vaccines ineffective, meaning new lockdowns. The Delta variant is not such a strain. Fear is our biggest enemy.
Sure, do we know how many of those 9,000 new cases were not vaccinated?I suspect a very large percentage. KLM announced yesterday that by year end they will be back to 90/95% of their original destinations. We cannot be left behind, Europe is opening up, so should we !
Well, what the hell, it's not stopping, is it? Anyway just for those in my position, this is what I'm doing: slowly exiting my long, very slowly up to 200. I'm looking to sell about 30% of my holdings up to the day we reach 200. I started in the 40s, therefore some of my 'shorts' are now loosing me money, eg: sold at 145, 148,152,154, etc.etc., but I won't close them. However I have also been closing some of those when sp retraced enough, by doing so I'm actually trading this while waiting for it to go up. I don't know, I might be wrong, perhaps someone else can tell me what their exit strategy is, please. This is mine, a bit of a basic one, which works for me both ways: I'm happy to close my shorts at a profit, staying in as a lth if sp goes down, or keep selling as we rise, therefore gradually closing my very long position, which I know many of us here have: average down, right issue, etc. Then I guess, like many, when well in profit again, past 200, I will open bigger shorts positions, at that time drops will be worth various pence, hence making it easier to raise more cash from them when closing, not being able to close will mean sp still going up. I know at the end of the day, as a lth in such a good company, the best thing to do is to do nothing, but with my strategy I keep my itchy fingers busy and who knows? I might even increase my profits overall, which I doubt very much. In order to do that, I should close all my shorts on the way up and open new ones at higher and higher sp levels, which so far I failed to do. Whatever will be, I trust this company to eventually come out stronger. I hope the post makes sense for some, clear as mud, is it? If you have any advice they're most welcome, thank you ! Sorry don't post often, but interestingly read you all always. Thank you again
Good morning and what a morning it is ! Well done to all holders, I'm slowly but steadily exiting my trade here. So far just under 20% out. It's working for me, see old posts, I hope it can help those with a holding who are looking for an exit. Thank you for the ever useful news links, info, etc, they've been valuable. GLA and thank you BA...all the way !!! 200 anyone? :))
Thanks for the advice, when I said order I meant Tradeplans (limit sell or buy/Stop loss, etc) I won't touch negotiated order as got burnt early in my trading experience too. Thanks to the other person who also mentioned negotiated orders...
Thank you for your time, tried again a minute ago (09:05) it's working fine. By the way in case it happens again, although wasn't able to deal 'instantly', I still could put in an order. Keep holding and trading this, it will be much much higher than where it is now. GLA
Good morning all, I'm with Lloyds Share Dealing, they're great, but this morning haven't been able to place any order. Not supported for online trading is the message. Other stocks are ok. Is anyone experiencing the same? Thank you
Merry Christmas everyone. If you made a few bobs on this, you might want to take a bet on ZEN !!! Have a look at it, it's risky ,but going absolutely bonkers today. I have been in there and my average is high, unfortunately, but someone with money to throw might enjoy a good Xmas ride. GL
