Punch drunk gamblers throwing good money after bad are trying to hold up the share price.
No one else is buying.
The share price will be driven by the financial realities of the company. There is nothing gambling investors can do to stop that.

but by continual buying you're hoping / gambling that a tiny spike and you get back to break even or a small profit. It's throwing good money after bad.
However, If you feel strongly enough about throwing more money at it then at least wait until a massive diluting rights issue (if regular shareholders are allowed to take part) and spend you money buying shares 99% cheaper than they are now.

When these shares become worthless in the next month or so, you'll be at 99 or maybe even 100% loss.

Another 8% lopped off today. More to come day after day until the 100% predictable death of the share price

AJones - and who leaked that story to the press on purpose? Someone did to screw shareholders over so they could make money for themselves. It's a disgrace and it happens all the time.

It's understandable that people seem to kid themselves - our brains are wired to avoid losses, so it could happen to any of us if we were also in this situation. If someone in this situation cannot bear to sell, then at least do not gamble by doubling down.

Try learning about the difference between gambling on situations like this and investing. Nothing is guaranteed but there is a spectrum of risk. At one end are things like Cineworld shareholders in the current predicament, at the other end a spread of blue chip stocks. Warren Buffet is a good place to start.

It's never worth a gamble. If you're a gambler, win or lose you'll gamble again somewhere else and keep doing it. A few years later you'll have lost the lot.

I re-read my last comments and it sounds like im saying the parts are sold off and no business is left. I definitely think the business will be ok and the employees and there is value as you point out. It's just nothing is left for shareholders.

No it isn't. I'm claiming assets will be sold on the cheap - to hmmmm, yes not all the debt is wiped out by that process, but the assets are real and will be sold cheaply - that's how bankrupt assets are sold. The rest of the debt won't be covered and will have to be written off

oh there is value left - once all the debt has been wiped out, they'll be cheap assets to buy up.

I wonder which corrupt person might do that ?

Mountainous - yes it's corrupt - stealing what value there is left from shareholders

Look at all your other investments people and if any are carrying large debts sell those shares now and reinvest in better businesses that have lots of cash and are growing. There are businesses out there like this you don't need to invest in companies like this.

Did I see someone had invested £50,000 in Cineworld? Please tell me you have other investments and not most or all of your money sunk in this? Sincerely I hope not.

Just seen the story today - not a holder. Sell up now - i reckon you've got less than an hour to get a tiny amount of money back. I knew this would fail after the pandemic - the debt was just massive. No amount of trading was ever going to fix it.

Shares will cease trading on Monday

This one is going to 3.5p over the next year I reckon. Year after 7 pence.

Placing will have to be say 40% discount to the share price in this climate.

If the shares drop off a cliff to say 1.85p with a 40% discount the new shares would cost about 1.1p.

That would be a huge dilution and a massive loss for all except Draper and Fran who won't contribute a penny but will get a ton of free options to maintain their stakes.

Don't care about the selling. People are stupid rule number 1.

This will rise regularly over the next 5 years. It won't happen all in one go.

I still believe we will get a massive uplift over the next few months followed by steady rises over the next few years.
