Coming out of the proof of talk conference, i wanted to summarize my key takeaways, conclusions, and predictions for the bittensor ecosystem over the coming months & years—all of which define my institutional thesis for bittensor and taobase (@taobase_):
• world-changing protocol by 2030: as we continue training frontier models and seeding real-world utility via subnets, buying TAO at $200 vs $400 vs $600 will be remembered like early BTC entries at those prices
• future crypto upside: the biggest gains in crypto are still ahead, and a material share will be driven by ai / bittensor
• digital economy > digital gold: bitcoin is digital gold; bittensor is a full digital economy. identical emissions-based tokenomics plus productive subnets may rival or eclipse BTC as a store of value, perhaps by EOMs
• spiritual resonance: there’s something viscerally profound about this protocol—many feel it but can’t yet describe it
• conference highlights: billions of $ got “tao-pilled” in paris, fueled by @BarrySilbert’s fireside with @dlawee alongside countless other featured / hallway conversations
• reed’s law vs metcalfe’s law: shout-out to @MichaelWhite_ for the bitcoin 3.5yr vs bittensor 3.5yr photo—my interpretation: further evidence bittensor scales on reed’s law (faster) while BTC runs on metcalfe’s
• dcg industrialization: @BarrySilbert, @anna_brth and @goosetao plus yuma (@evan_malanga) are building bittensor like DCG built bitcoin—accelerating adoption and attracting bitcoin maxis
• decentralized training frontier: leaders @const_reborn, @SteffenCruz and @templar_subnet @gradients_ai @rayon_labs are proving that decentrally trained models can & will outpace centralized labs—catalyzing AGI, ASI and beyond
• its VERY early: oldest subnets just turned 18 months—series A-level. Patience will be rewarded
• comically undervalued: crypto-AI category sits at ~$25 bn MC vs bittensor at ~$3.5 bn. as Barry said, “bittensor has no competitors.” rising crypto-AI valuations will overwhelmingly accrue to TAO; dog coins = $50bn MC, meme coins = $75bn MC; defi ex-eth = $125bn; its clear where this is going..
• subnet incubators are on fire: @YumaGroup @CrucibleLabs (@dlawee & @AlaShaabana), @contango (@mikecontango), @btlabs_ai (@SiliconJose ) S&P 500 of subnets sooner than people think
• centralized vs decentralized: corporate AI labs will plug into bittensor like web 2 runs on linux—its worth exploring the synergy & collaboration.. just as wall street adoption helped BTC
• institutional capital is coming: @SiamKidd @jaltucher @SafelloAB @FrankSchuil @oblong_inc @taobase_ - @BarrySilbert also hinted at an institutional bridge into dtao; bittensor-only funds will be among the best performing in the world
• ethics & alignment SN: AI ethics and alignment need their own subnet. shout-out to @AureliusAligned (shout to my friend in LA, @SheepyAustin ) tackling this ur
