No doubt their average cost can be approximated (by someone) from these figures but, since the bulk of their short was taken out when the CoB share price was 50.75p and they will (surely?) have been paying rent on the borrowed shares, their get out price is around where we are now. Hopefully, they will find it very difficult to but back the shares in the current market, especially if Avacta were to drop some good financial or clinical news.

A few things would make their current position clearer if we could know them:

When was the change of short they reported on the 24th (Thursday) active? Was that their position as of CoB on the 23rd, CoB on the 24th or during trading hours on the 24th?

Related to that, do they have a worked buy trade currently active? Have they reduced or are they in the process of reducing their short considerably and will report soon?

And are they using dark pool to obtain shares?

I hope that they haven't started to buy back in earnest yet.

So whilst they were looking to see whether more frequent dosing at a lower level was more beneficial or not, they were also homing in on the cancer indications that they wanted to take into Phase 1b. Neat.

The latest notification of Ordinary Shares in issue that I found prior to 10 July 2024 was the 'Block Listing Application' RNS on 23 April 2024 (359,042,104 shares).

The number of Ordinary Shares in issue on 24 July 2025 was given in the 'Equity fundraise of £3.25 million' RNS on 17 July 2025 (404,548,875 shares).
