I'm confident the BOD are shrewd enough to refrain from any actions that could be damaging to the value of the business. It would not be in the company's interest, especially in the aftermath of this invidious virus, to rock the boat and further destabilise sentiment by reducing the dividend. Presently, the yield is the main crutch of support going forward,so it's inconceivable that any astute Director could support such inappropriate and damaging actions given the state of affairs. After all, no sane person throws on petrol in an attempt to extinguish a fire!

Very few businesses have cover for losses due to Covid-19 apparently. Even if the government forces businesses to close, they are unlikely to be able to claim from standard policies. The lockdown will have very limited impact on companies such as Aviva et al. In addition, Aviva has a SolvencyII ratio of c200% (not to mention dividend cover of x2). Ultimately, this situation should prove to be advantageous for the future business of Aviva etc. for obvious reasons.

Am in at 12.74p. Peel Hunt target price of 50p would mean 300% profit but would be happy to get 25p. Could always double up if slumps to 6p. Then if falls to 3p, could double up yet again. Can't see the company going bankrupt etc.

Dow Jones has quickly clawed back half of yesterday's losses already. Combined with a decent budget tomorrow, no doubt containing economic stimuli, we should witness further advancements towards a realistic SP for Aviva.

This would be a very good time for Aviva to use some of that spare cash to buy-back and cancel their own shares. They were more than happy(not long ago) to buy-back at >500p. This would boost future EPS and support the SP to a more realistic level.

There are zero open Short positions on Aviva. The experts don't seem to agree that this is a falling knife,or indeed that it has a long way yet to fall. In fact, Aviva enjoys much improved metrics now than when the SP was 550p. The absurdity of this Moral Panic and media frenzy will evaporate and normal business will resume IMV.

The Jury's still out on this CEO so on Thurs. we need to see solid evidence of the 'Pace,Energy and Commercial thinking' that was promised. The statements must be upbeat (particularly in the current climate). We certainly don't need them to be using negative excuses and phrases such as Headwinds,Brexit fallout,Challenges and Coronavirus etc as a smokescreen for poor performance! Am not expecting miracles,but at least focus on the positives and give the market reason to be optimistic.

Grabbed another 2175 shares at bargain price of 343p. Would have been many more if had more free cash. There has to be a correction sooner or later! And now at 8.5% divi (well-covered).

This is basically an artificial crises brought about by irrational fear IMO. Not helped by arbitrarily set automatic program stop/losses being triggered. I would have thought under the circumstances,that stock markets ought to have been suspended pending the dust settling! Probably too late now as the horse has already bolted. Still, for those who are cash rich, there are terrific bargains to be had .

nuri123a- agree with you on that. I could understand it if it was the return of the bubonic plague! At this level, It would be a great time for Aviva to buy back and cancel those shares . That would imv be far more sensible than cancelling loans of 3or 4%.

SP being slaughtered but, paradoxically, happy with today's 4% decline. You can't legislate for panic selling and Aviva is showing underlying strength when compared with the likes of L&G and Prudential (nigh-on 7% decline). This panic selling is a storm in a teacup and I will not be prematurely shaken out. This is not Armageddon! For LT holders, this will be seen to be a mere blip IMHO!

I'm not worried about the divi since they've announced a progressive dividend payout. It would require a major U-Turn now to change that policy and a serious loss of street-cred for the CEO!
