That would be the honourable thing to do Divihunter112, fully sustainable too given the eps for 2019 and improving sII ratio. It cannot harm that executive bonuses have been linked to dividends also imho.

This low interest environment is old hat. It's been very low for several years now. We were told that the company finances are very robust and dividend cover was twice covered (at 30p) etc etc. DirectLine, Legal&General et al paying their usual dividends without slashing them. Dlg only a few days ago reinstated their suspended divi IN FULL! Aviva shareholders have been MISLED for far too long imo!

Another opportunity missed imv . Realisation setting in that after being sucked in on the statement of progressive dividend policy not that long ago, the dividend policy is likely to be retrogressive. Some city commentators are pencilling in a 30% slashing of the dividend. And the board recently also made the shallow acknowledgement that they recognise the importance of dividends to shareholders. Am I alone in feeling we have been mugged?

The sudden drop at the close seems to be prescient of something sinister coming in the interims. Hope I'm wrong about that but it does smell a bit fishy. Like as if sensitive 'inside information' has been unfairly taken advantage of! Fingers crossed that I'm just being slightly paranoid. GLA Holders!

12% gain in SP for DirectLine shareholders in just 2 days following reinstatement of their dividend and (special dividend for their last suspended divi). So if the correct 'box' is ticked, It is a win-win scenario.

3-6% upside if they tick all your boxes Zebbo! A lot of holders here have seen their investment halve in value in barely one year. How many more 'boxes' need to be ticked for many here just to break-even?

In addition, It would be simply unacceptable for them to insist that the issue of dividends will only be revisited some time in the 4th quarter. There has never been a better time for them to demonstrate that a certain amount of corporate Nous is evident at board level within Aviva!

Yeah, imagine the caning l&g SP would have suffered then if they failed to maintain their dividend! Over to you now Aviva! What have you got lined up for your long-suffering shareholders???

That's all very well but the SP should have recovered to approx. £3.50 by now with the proper leadership imv. Positive announcements on reinstating the unfairly cancelled 'declared' dividend would be a very good start !

Yes, what a disaster his stint has proven to be for shareholders. He'll receive his 30 pieces of silver no doubt. The new CEO needs to honour the 'declared' dividend of 20.4p asap to restore some integrity to the BOD in addition to maintaining the progressive dividend payout policy.

You could'nt make it up! The ex CEO promised us Pace but had no balls. Now the new CEO is promising us Pace but also ........!

I'll state the obvious for them. Pay shareholders the declared dividend of 20.4p now, no ifs or buts!

477p would place Aviva on a 'modest' P/E of 7.95 by my reckoning. If they get their act together though, I think long-term there's no reason why they cannot achieve a P/E of 12 or more.

DYOR you say laidback. Here's a bit of interesting research I think. If Aviva had the p/e that L&G has, the SP would be 450p. On Pru's p/e, the SP would now be 1251p. If Aviva shared the s/p of Standard Life Aberdeen we would now be sitting on an SP of £18.40 per share. I can only live in hope!
