While we are all maybe in a bit of a melancholic state with this temporary shut down of life - we know we will (hopefully we all will) see an end to this, though life will change for many of us.

I just wanted to say that I miss the bit of banter on the board - thankfully there are little to no 'haters' posting at the moment so perhaps they all got laid off.

Weather seems to be looking good - up here in the usual frozen north east it is anyway. I may be forced to develop some sort of gardening skills - though currently filling my time with family tree research and other soft pastimes.

As for autopsies - I still call them post mortems, the danger surrounding them is far greater than dealing with the patients.

As with most deaths, if a patient has been seen within 2 weeks and diagnosed with an illness/disease then no PM would ordinarily take place as there is no real need to as the disease/illness has been noted.

That is in normal times. Today we have a very infectious disease and some of the symptoms are similar to other well known diseases. At a time like this, if a patient has been diagnosed - rightly or wrongly with CV19 then there is no requirement for a PM - there will be mistakes - perhaps call it collateral damage of this very odd war - but we are in extremely testing times for our practitioners - I for one would not want to increase the danger for the staff at the front line by opening up a chest cavity to examine the lungs of a cadaver.

The media are owned by the rich and they will report what they want the public to believe - keep everyone on a high sense of alert (apart from the ****bags who are stealing lead, robbing old and vulnerable people etc.) and create a new world order perhaps.

Nothing will be the same after this anticipated long lockdown. Many companies will collapse, retailers, airlines, holiday companies, distilleries and breweries, service industries.

The aftermath will be one of countries either wiping out each others debt - bear in mind a lot of the bank rolls are held by the tiny proportion of the mega rich - or reclaiming it via taxes - which will undoubtedly make the mega rich richer.

All theory of course - off to pick up the car having been repaired due to some idiots driving down both sides of it in the car park when this all kicked off - of course they never left any details. Thank the lord for protected no claims.

We are in (very much overused) unprecedented times - the RNS is clearly vague, in that there are no definitive timelines for attempting to put the bit underwater as yet.
Saying that, it was clear that there is enough money in the bank and that there are seemingly positive opportunities within the situation which may actually benefit a minnow such as BPC - that of course remains to be seen.

We have some clarification as to EIA "We also have an approved Environmental Authorisation from the Government of The Bahamas" and SP states there are still farm in discussions with the aforementioned opportunities arising from the current situation.

Overall I see the RNS as a positive one, though never any guarantees.

shamima - probably a wise choice. As for the timing of the latest RNS stating things will be delayed - that had to be a given. The world is currently going crazy, stock markets all over are haemorrhaging like most have never witnessed.

Whole countries are on shutdown (though short of curfew) and it will get worse in the short term. Movement of people is gradually being shuttered off so of course this would include staff for drilling for oil. Schools in some areas are closed, people are buying up huge forests worth of toilet paper, tonnes of pasta etc. So learning we will be delayed on the drill came as no surprise.

We are in unprecedented territory both with the markets and in life in general. The Met are looking to draft in retired cops and I would imagine regional forces will do the same. Whether we will end up with the military assisting remains to be seen, however, their numbers have plummeted over the decades and a lot are on operations already.

Time is now to gather up thoughts, stop stressing about what if scenarios and fasten down the hatches until we come out the other side. Easier said than done of course - stay safe, watch out for your relatives, neighbours, old folk and the vulnerable.
Think about the many thousands who will be on unpaid leave from the travel and hospitality industries, the many thousands on zero hours contracts and of course our NHS and emergency services which are very much in the thick of it all.

There will be a large part of the elderly/infirm who will suffer quite badly if the get the virus so it is well to stay clear and just ensure they are kept up to date, informed, fed and generally cared for. The government suggested self isolation for 4 months yesterday. We need to in the short term keep the lid on hordes of people becoming infected. No amount of toilet roll will stop it of course, but let us keep our parents (and those lucky enough to still have grandparents) as safe from it for as long as possible. The hospitals cannot cope with the amount of hypochondriacs they already have to deal with and if the A&E departments become more inundated the elderly will suffer whilst waiting with the drunks and druggies taking up the bedspaces already.

Stay safe, bury your head in the sand as far as the SP here goes, there will be plenty of vultures waiting to feast on the plummeting share prices - they want to feed on your concerns.

I have seen a number of folk comparing this situation with the banking crisis.

It is nothing like the banking crisis to be fair. That did not see entire countries on lock down etc. We just need to “keep calm and carry on”.

Not enough information is publicly known about this virus and the public and until such time that they do frustration, fear and anger will continue to grow. The situation is unprecedented and I am sure all of us wished we had cashed in during the recent highs. I know I surely did and glad I did not suggest to my kids to buy in with some of their savings, instead I used some of my own. Crystal balls are what I should have invested in.

We need to get folk to calm down. Most people will come into contact with the virus, a lot will have no symptoms, some will become very ill and contagious, whilst some will get flu-like symptoms.

Judge - indeed - the NHS was at breaking point before Covid 19 - My family are very much at the epicentre within their nursing roles. Most of my family work in the health service and I even did a spell of over a year post retiring from The Job.

Sadly things have been on the decline for well over a decade, more admin staff than nursing staff and the majority of the sick leave is from the civilian staff which skews all the figures. Bosses spending 10s of thousands tarting their office space up and yet they expect their nursing staff to just 'make do'.

The shutdown within communities is a must if the health service is to survive. We have to remove selfishness and replace it with good old community spirit and ensure our aged citizens are cared for in their own homes, either by dropping food parcels at their door, ringing/skyping them and just keep them safe and sane.

With all the ridiculousness going on with hoarding and raping the supermarkets of everyday essentials we see the selfishness within society.

We can all do our bit - sounds a bit severe, however, we only need to look at our European neighbours putting almost everyone on lockdown - it will no doubt filter down here until the weather picks up.

Stay safe, wash your hands - and I do not see any necessity to hoard bog roll. Dig out your old daily mails and guardians and start cutting squares and hang them on a wire coat hanger if need be. Sort yourselves a tinfoil hat, put cling film over your letterboxes to stop the virus being allowed through, nows the excuse to kill that annoying neighbour's dog/cat/rabbit/cow etc - fill your freezer with anything edible - the end is nigh I tell you, THE END IS NIGH!!!!

Of course that last paragraph is just a load of old tosh, before anyone goes out and does the neighbour's pets in or suffocates oneself.

Seriously though - if you are vulnerable (COPD, heart issues, low immune system, on treatment for diabetes, cancer and the like) then please be sensible, try and get someone you know to do your shopping and leave it in a safe place. No need to stockpile anything other than BPC shares for the moment. Wish I had a few grand to grab a few more but spent all my money on sandbags and an ark.

My just turned 85 yr old dad has decided to self isolate as though not frail he is a high risk should he get it.

I have visited several supermarkets of late and it is absolutely crazy scenes of empty shelves - I overheard someone in a queue telling the cashier to stock up on loo roll as his mate (a director) at a hospital told him too. FFS what is with these folk.

Washing hands and drinking gin will keep you sorted (the gin is just a sales gimmick lol - I have a few hundred bottles left and not likely to get another shipment from Germany for a while).

The virus is killing old folk and those with a poor immune system - the world is in a panic mode and likely to be for some months - it will be a case of putting tinfoil hats on and turning off the news for a bit. Bourses are likely to be like a *****'s knickers for a while - there will be plenty of folk making some money in the interim but my shares are now in the virtual bottom drawer until things pan out.

armatrading - sensible figures - that pdf from the archive shows an upside estimate for exploration re-rating potential of 1417% - saying that quite a few on that list never made it.

Whilst the article is giving some space for anti drilling etc and mention of Florida being a little antsy the quote from U.S. Senator Marco Rubio last month said he expects “that the Trump administration will not act to oppose or defeat my efforts to extend the offshore drilling moratorium in the eastern Gulf of Mexico beyond its current expiration in 2022”.

I always though Exxon, especially as Rex Tillerson had been their man in the Bahamas before leaving for a short spell with Trump.

To be honest I would be happy with any decent sized oiler.
