It is all about the unknowns - the side with the best voice will gain the most following - as you say CC the message about the financial benefits needs to be the largest one.
With both sides of the government chamber singing from the same hymn sheet and interviews like the one we are discussing here we may be able to win over any fence-sitters.
Not knowing the judicial system in the Bahamas (there are plenty of allegations of corruption etc) I could not guess the plot.
We will know pretty soon whether there will be another delay in proceedings, though with the 10 plus years of luck we have had with BPC I am not holding my breath.
In previous news articles, the legal proceedings have been written as 'possible impending proceedings' so it may be a lot of bluster.
18/11 "Environmental activists last night threatened to initiate legal action against the Government and Bahamas Petroleum Company (BPC) within 14 days unless the latter halts its oil exploration plans."
27/11 “Given that they [BPC] have not heeded our respectful request that they confirm they will not drill, I think the Coalition has no choice but to ask the courts to intervene. Therefore we will likely have to apply for the injunction. “We’re going for the injunction, yes. Unfortunately, we have to. It is shocking that BPC would ignore the letter that we sent, in which we warned them that legal action is imminent, and would result if they and the Government failed to stop their drilling intentions.”
