Your investment strategy isn't just about whether you're in profit or not. You clearly wanted to sell these shares 2 or 3 years ago which suggests you're not at ease with the current position.

The difference is they talk about striking paydirt and selling up as if it's a 6-12 month prove up and flog on job.

There are other explorers that are happy to follow this model. SOLG have clearly stated that they are not one. That is why anyone who didn't want in for the long term took off, and now we're left with a few stragglers who want to pin it on Nick and other investors who do understand the SOLG model.

No objection to a placing if it means making investments that can be accretive to FFWD over shorter timeframes than our current portfolio but why give yourself 162m in headroom? In a frought market like this people are going to assume the worst, i.e. lowball placing.

They could have allowed themselves 40% or 50% and still raised £2-3m at around the current price.

I definitely take your point about how previous news has been sold off. You're absolutely spot on. Part of the perils of being in a downtrend with investors knowing they can take +15% on open on an RNS day and buy back lower. Rinse and repeat.

Good luck to them buying the dips should the share price start going in the other direction. Good luck to buying the dips if Zaranou does turn out to be as promising as we think it is and gold prices climb towards and past $2000/oz. Good luck to them buying the dips if we start getting credible interest in a JV. Good luck if we make enough progress whereby we can start prepping Chad for a drill campaign........

The mistake we've both made in terms of our portfolios is buying IRR at 20p and 25p. We did that for a reason though - because we believe in the assets and the management. Maybe a learning for us both to take forward is to wait for a company to become cheaper than we think is even possible. Anyone buying in now at 7-9p has a cracking shot at this as you imply.

It depends what you're looking for Mike and what your investing style is most suited to.

You could buy 95% of the stocks on AIM and hold them as long as you've held IronRidge and the investment performance will be similar. This is a very sentiment driven market that is heavily correlated to macro trends but very reliant on operational catalysts at the same time. Judt look at the current Covid flyers.

There are two ways to play the game if you're in Vince's shoes. You can either frequently bull**** the market with an investment case to keep traders interest, feeding them with discounted stock and warrants as well.

The second option is to get your head down, update investors when theres something to tell them and wait for the market to speak in your favour.

From a resource point of view, look at GGP. That went barmy on the original Newmont to share their data announcement. Every man and his dog was ramping it. Newmont backed out and the share price tanked overnight. Thankfully for them, they made a good discovery at Havieron and Newcrest have now stepped up to play a big role in taking the project forward.

IRR are ploughing their own furrow on what is an asset with grand scale in Zaranou. The infill drills will be significant in that they'll give us a good idea of the 3km area within the 8km strike that covered the initial first pass campaign. Hopefully we will see some positive results and the company will decide to push on with the 30,000m planned for later in the year.

I genuinely don't think we'll see RNS' sold off so viciously then because there will be a raft of new investors getting involved in what could shape up to be the next multi-million ounce discovery out of west Africa. We're still well too early on it yet.

The same applies for the lithium. We have a nice little project with favourable characteristics and significant exploration upside. This project will be well in demand when the lithium demand increases, as it is forecasted to do so.

I've by no means lost hope with Chad. The update a few months ago on the main zone anomaly was interesting but the fact is that progress is slower there. There is a reason for that. It's a jurisdiction with a fledgling mining code and so i suspect there are all sorts of hoops to jump through. If you remember one of Vince's interviews too it will be more expensive to drill and carry a higher cost of discovery - Zaranou is more lower hanging fruit in my view.

There's no point in advertising or promoting this company because Vince has confirmed that he won't pander to short term traders. I just wish he'd realise that by continually raising funds at a discount he is adding more retail investors to the share register. That inevitably is going to result in more trading. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.

There's a serious lack of understanding here on many parts. We've got a promising gold asset that has serious potential upside and we have an initial JORC estimate on the lithium asset, we have a Chad asset that's a slower burner and we have a portfolio of side assets that many AIM companies would love to have.

There's no doubting that IronRidge will need more financial help down the line and i for one will not be happy unless it's carried out on reasonable terms. For now we have the £4.75m raised recently by SI Capital and some meters on the drilling for equity deal with Geodrill who are now more aligned than ever.

I understand why people are frustrated - I've had my moments myself, but i genuinely think that given fair winds in CDI at Zaranou that we have every chance of reversing the trend in the second half of this year, in what should be a bullish period for gold.

BHP are locked up until 20 October 2020. SOlG should close Franco financing well in advance of this date.

The only way BHP can move sooner is if a bid comes in from someone else before lock-up expires. Given the position of NCM and the general lack of action from other parties, i think this is unlikely.

I don't think there's much they can do about the Franco deal provided the site visit takes place within the next month.

I'm not convinced BHP will want to make a fair offer for this anyway if their past offer is anything to go by. Part of me expects the lock-up to expire and we'll likely get some joke bid thst will hopefully be kicked into the long grass with the contempt it deserves.

It isn't guaranteed RichyRich1 - that's my point.

If we sold Alpala then exploration risk would increase multi-fold. Personally I do think we'd find another Alpala but it is by no means guaranteed.

With that in mind you'd need a whacking special dividend to derisk your initial investment and hope that something else can come through. For me this has as much, if not more risk than exploring regionally whilst developing Alpala.

Just my own opinion.

ToS - RichyRich was complaining about the share price and project decisions not being taken to suit his preferences and then he goes and nominates a far riskier play that could see us end up with something or could see us end up with nothing.

I feel that "deary me" was warranted.

It might be normal investor emotions Rich3r but sure you give yourself the best opportunity in these markets by not thinking like the normal investor?

You should rely on the research that led to you buying the shares in the first place and your knowledge of the company built up over years and years, so that when sentiment is low like it is now you can look at the big picture and draw a rational conclusion?

I'm by no means delighted with this raise but I understand why it might be needed. I was expecting that we'd hear about our new investor this morning and I'm not delighted that we haven't, but my research and my knowledge built up means I'm going to wait this out and reserve judgement for now.
