Yes, the American electoral system is rubbish - it's possible to win an election while winning a minority of the 'popular vote'. Just like this country.

I have never filtered anybody, because I like seeing a range of opinions, even if I don't agree with them - it's called free speech, and free speech involves hearing things you don't like or agree with.
That said, some of the childish bickering and name-calling on this board would embarrass your average 12 year old, and it's ruining this board. Can't you make a point without simultaneously insulting someone?

I honestly don't know what to think - I read 1 article/post that thinks a Biden win would boost the market; then I see another one saying the same about Trump. My initial thinking was that a Trump victory would be beneficial, but the proposed Democrat stimulus package sways it the other way, possibly. Guess I'll just flip a coin. I think we can at least agree that a clean result is very desirable - a disputed/contested one would be awful. And we all know how Trump thrives on chaos.

Impossible to write him off, but the odds seem to favouring Biden. Pray God for a clear decision either way. Apologies for the juvenile humour, I think this Covid/lockdown business is starting to get to me.

I'm with you. I managed to free up a bit of cash on Friday, and I've got itchy fingers, but I'm going to try and contain myself until Wednesday. What with Bojo's announcement, the US election ( the markets will not like a Biden win), and a Brexit backdrop, things could be super-volatile this week.

The salaries of the CEO's isn't even back of the sofa money, but it's a fair point about the money saved by staff cutbacks. 12000 less staff @ say $50000 average including pension contributions (that's a guess, obvs) is some £600 million pa. - which is a hefty chunk. I think IAG will survive and be profitable in the long term - it's the short term that's more of a worry for me.

It's hard to argue with a negative view of this share (and many others in the travel/hospitality sectors) at the moment. Not sure I can see it at 35p, but then again, if you had told me we would be where we are now back in Feb. I would have injured myself laughing. I might be tempted to buy back in around the 65 -70p mark, but it all depends on how things develop (duh!).

Castle - while it may have been unimaginable not long ago, the way things are going, a second RI next year is definitely possible. The last one was bad enough, but an RI at a low share price of say 60-80p would be a disaster for shareholders: to raise any decent amount of money you would have to issue what? some 5 billion shares? All hopes pinned on a workable vaccine.

George - earlier today you described the government as ''a bunch of clowns''. To all clowns, I would like to apologise unreservedly for this slur on your personality. And you are right- we need to completely readjust our approach to this whole problem before it's too late.
