I'm hoping someone can explain this to me. Just watching BBC news, and they were saying that, even after boosters,
"...protection against catching Omicron seems to wane after about 10 weeks..". The BBC webpage also states this.
Given that it is only 4 weeks since we even became aware of Omicron, and even South Africa had only seen it for a couple of weeks previous to that , and given that we disregard any evidence coming from there anyway, how the hell can they possibly know this?
Have I lost the plot, or is the BBC talking BS?

PS - sold a tranche of shares earlier, as a small rise has so often been followed by a drop recently. Given my shocking trading record lately, I would not be surprised if this good news precipitates a large rise!

fordm - I am loving your posts, and particularly your evisceration of Drakeford, who is a complete and utter moron: just look at him!! PS - you wonder why ".. no-one has gone full postal yet...." - if we had the liberal gun laws America has, that could well be me.

Hopefully, if you do all these things, you will stop yourself being asymptomatic, or possibly feeling slightly under the weather for a few days.

Just catching up here after a truly heroic effort on my part to single-handedly rescue the Sussex pub trade yesterday. Some great posts; special mention to BB, Jtan and fordm - keep them coming.Wish me luck, as I will soon heading over the top again.

BB - as I said in my earlier post - I am away from home for a few days, and staying in a Premier Inn. There are multiple signs up, stating that if I do not wear a mask in the public areas, I "..may be reported to the local authorities...". How terrifying is that?
Now do I strike a blow for freedom and sanity, and not put my mask on, thereby risking a knock on the door from the Stasi, or do I comply like a lobotomised serf, and lose what remains of my self respect?

I'm staying in Lewes in Sussex for a few days (I used to live around here) , which I do every year at this time. This part of the world is full of beautiful olde-world pubs. Went to 4 of my favourite ones yesterday, all of which would normally be busy on any Thursday, never mind just before Xmas - they were all almost empty. Depressing - and it's hard to see how a lot of these places can survive this madness for much longer.
I will valiantly be attempting to singlehandedly rescue the Sussex pub trade myself over the next 3 days.

This is like living in Groundhog Day - every day I turn on the TV to a deluge of fearmongering and doom. It's really starting to get to me. Could be time to hide the remote control, purely for my mental wellbeing. If I hear one more pointless cliche from some smug politician/public sector muppet, I am going to lose my marbles.
PS - Gillian Keegan MP on Good Morning Britain has just confirmed that there are 11 Omicron cases in hospital, and the 1 death 'with' it. OMG - WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE1.
PPS - looks like France are basically closing their borders.
