All this positivity is starting to get me down. Over the last 2 years there have been lots of occasions when we seemed to be on the cusp of breaking free of this nightmare, only for my hopes to be dashed. My faith in our "leaders" to do the right thing, and lead us out of this, have been eviscerated.
As you can see, I am in a particularly upbeat mood, but when you have been let down as much as we have, it's difficult to have any faith. Am I really supposed to believe that the same donkeys (not just in this country, but worldwide) who in large
part led us into this mess, are the right ones to lead us out?
I'll believe it when it happens.

If the normally-so-sensible Scandinavians head down the route of Covid passes and compulsory masks, then I fear we are all doomed.

BB - you are so right about the Barnet formula/devolved nation finances. Both Drakeford and Sturgeon spend half their time ****ging off Westminster/Johnson, and the other half chiselling more money out of them. I honestly don't know why the English put up with it. They should tell them both to ***k off, and then put their feet up waiting for the inevitable phone call begging for forgiveness/ bailout when the wheels come off.

Not sure why, but I suddenly starting pondering a hypothetical question - how would previous generations have responded to Coronavirus? This country used to be known for its' stiff upper lift and fortitude - now we hear a lot about the "snowflake" generation. Is this reflected in our Covid response? I would guess so..
Anyway, I can't help wondering how this scenario would have played out in the 50's/60's/70's. Or come to that. how would Thatcher have handled it in the 80's?
All speculative, hypothetical nonsense, obviously, but I would genuinely be interested in others opinions. Cheers.

Botbot reading your (very amusing) little rant, it just made me think - somebody saying "aliens may land" seems absurd. Then again, if we had been having the same "what if...?" conversation a couple of years ago, if somebody had suggested " a pandemic might bring the world to a standstill", we probably would have thought the same. One never knows.
PS - The truth is out there.

Here we go - Scotland the first to record record case numbers over the last few days. Cue hysteria. Expect the governments in England, N. Ireland and Wales (aka the Welsh Taliban). to follow suit. Ridiculous.

They also cause huge economic damage (poverty kills - fact), as well as causing all kinds of social, emotional ,educational and psychological damage (amongst other things). Case rates are a distraction and should be ignored - hospitalisations and age-related deaths should be the only relevant criteria.

Anyway, we can't even organise a cohesive Covid response across the 4 nations of the 'United' Kingdom, never mind a global one.
