Let me make sure I have this right.
Huge numbers of people are testing positive for a virus that is of almost no real concern to a vast. VAST majority of people. It is only a concern to a tiny number of vulnerable people (who are vulnerable to a whole range of things) and to people who have chosen to not get vaccinated/boosted. Those people who have tested positive must then isolate for a period, as must certain people who merely come into contact with those who are positive (eg. unvaccinated).
Because so many people have tested positive, and are isolating, there are major problems in many areas due to a shortage of personnel. This is then seen as a Coronavirus issue, and is then used as a weapon to implement further restrictions/rules/lockdown measures. This then fuels even more paranoia and fear around Coronavirus - more people test themselves, and the whole cycle just accelerates downhill.
The phrase "self-inflicted wound" springs to mind. We are putting a shotgun in our own mouths.
We are now so far down the rabbit-hole that I cannot see a way back.
