If this now plays out the way it appears to be heading, it will be interesting to see how leaders and politicians from both sides try and "spin" this as a victory. No doubt Boris will be close to the front of the queue trying to claim the glory, desperately trying to elbow "sleepy" Joe Biden and Emmanuel "the midget" Macron aside.

Jotom - you're right of course. and funnily enough I am not as concerned now as I was a few weeks back. Ideally I would have slightly less exposure than I do, and more in cash to take advantage of any drops, it just means I may have to wait an extra few weeks/ a month or two maybe, before I see the price I am looking for .It's just that (as I have mentioned before) it just seems to be one thing after another recently. For example, things seemed to be improving back in October/November, and then up popped Omicron to scupper it - now we have this, again, just at a time when we looked to be on a healthy upturn. Would be nice to have a period of relative calm/stability.
Of course, that said, volatility is also an opportunity to make money (or possibly, in my case to lose it!). No doubt in a few months time I will be back on here moaning about how flat the market is, and how it's impossible to make worthwhile profits. Still, gives me something to moan about, and I do enjoy a good whinge.

Lots of negative and depressing headlines across all media today - almost enough to make one yearn for the good old days, when it was just covid....covid ... covid....

We had something similar to this a few weeks ago, when there was a lot of talk about a conflict, and the share price dipped, but then recovered quite quickly to an even higher level than it had been previously when the threat receded. Not looking great right now, and I expect a dip come Monday - but , as long as things don't actually kick off, then hopefully we will have a repeat of that.
Got a little bit of dry powder, so might look for a cheeky top-up Monday am.

Viren - the scenario for yourself that you have spelt out yesterday and today is one that I (and probably a lot of others) have been through many times. The idea of selling, and then buying the shares back cheaper is obviously appealing. Problem is that you are then almost simultaneously wanting a share to rise AND fall - the timing there is largely down to luck.
I have also asked myself this question - which of the following 2 scenarios is the more painful?
a) I don't sell, the price drops.
b) I do sell, the price rises.
I guess that as long as you come out in profit, that's the main thing, but I personally find it slightly worse to have a theoretical profit, and miss out on it by not selling, than to miss out on an increased rise by selling prematurely. Does that make sense? It is still a bit early. Who was it said "You won't get poor taking a profit" -?

I remember when some BA cabin crew went on strike a few years back, and held a protest in a field somewhere. There was a few overpaid and underworked yummy mummies perched on the bonnets of their BMW's, quaffing prosecco and nibbling prawn and avocado sandwiches.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe the savings in terms of salaries/pension contributions/general streamlining, are in the order of £500 million per year.
