So Merc are invested here. Sodium being a less polluting, more abundant material than Lithium and easier to transport safely. Energy density is currently not as high as Lithium equivalents but material science marches on. JLR, Toyota and McLaren are involved in commercialising Ilika's Goliath solid state battery that uses lithium orthosilicate, glass and sulfides which results in a high energy density and very fast recharge times. I guess the Tier 1's have done their homework for EV's.
Perhaps the sodium battery may be better suited to corporation E-Scooters etc, given there safer characteristics. Interesting.
