Been reading articles over the last few weeks, even from medical proffessionals, saying theres a role for LFT but im wondering about their motives now.
Its easy to think that any test is better than no test and at least the many poor countries around the world can afford it, but surely every person tested negative and more confident of not being infectious is a potential super spreader.
Not sure that even Novacyt can improve it enough to make it useful.
Looks like the truth is out...LFT/antibody tests, although cheap, are poor value and dangerous.
Governments around the world have been taken in in their rush for a quick fix and have bought hundreds of millions of them. Maybe they need to admit that they made a mistake and stop using them.
Hopefully the new LAMP tech can be a game changer.
Unfortunately, there just isnt a cheap solution for those poor countries.
Lets all hope the vaccines will work but I think were in for a long wait. 2 to 3 years at least before were back to something like normal.
Personally, I wont be taking it, even though im 60. Like many, including a doctor aquaintance of mine, I will go to the back of the queue and wait to see how safe it is first.
Theres also this from NBC...

Things are getting so desperate in the states (and no doubt worldwide) that other diagnostics are being affected.
We have the technology..lets hope we have enough manufacturing capacity to be able to help out.
There will be a role for LFT (and LAMP) in conjunction with other tests because of its low cost and speed but doesnt seem to work at all well with low viral loads so certainly cant be relied upon on its own
Seems to me that its all about accuracy v speed v cost which means we may have to look at all alternatives.
Novacyt have brought the pcr speed and simplicity of use down a lot and maybe (hopefully) can tweak a bit more for speed but cant really get more accurate, so as LFT is going to be used along with LAMP anyway wether we like it or not hopefully we can make an improved version of it.
Every few percent more sensitivity will save lives and bring us more profit of course.
It would have to be an improvement on existing, as were established now as having the highest standards in everything we do
Reputation is all.

Were all entitled to our own views. I have no problem with that, but your words give you away as selfish, self pitying and negative.
Try to remember that these older people who in your mind just seem to be in your way, are the same people who grew up and persevered in some very bad times, fought in wars, worked hard and payed (and still paying) their taxes and did all they could to try and pass on a better future for those to come (you).
No one said life is easy but if you stop feeling sorry for yourself for long enough, youll be able to see that this virus is just one of many challenges youll face in life and is only temporary.
Whats two or three years out of your normal routines in order to save hundreds of thousands of lives...young middle aged or old.
All lives matter!
The problem is that the system we have has always been set up to allow the rich and powerful to legally rob the poor..its like Robin Hood in reverse.
If your poor and you steal..you go to prison..if your rich and well connected and you steal..you get richer.
IMO nobody will get a penny back of their hard earned money that was stolen by this 'esteemed peer of the realm' Waheed Ali. I lost a fair bit but I know many lost very large amounts and I genuinely feel sorry for all those who suffered big losses and had their futures ruined by this man and sorry to be negative but maybe its best for us all to move on now and hope that karma deals with him.

Their not sure..join the club..looking likely though. Shouldnt be too long before we find out.
There were quite a few when I checked yesterday and wasnt sure so asked Tay.
I really hope its the one they identified on the Novacyt Insider..he would be great for us. Whoever it is well find out soon enough and it really is a big endorsement for NCYT that he bought such a big chunk of shares at a smidge under £9 ps
Decent article here..

Hopefully we can be of help to them.
Just rumours of course..but isnt that always the case until it happens?
I think we would be a good fit for GSK but if it happens, perhaps wont be until early next year, which might not be a bad thing...higher valuation.
Anyway, t/o or not, we are surely heading for midcap status and a main listing on the LSE at some point in the not too distant future.
Feels like a very safe share to be in for me and happy to wait as long as it takes for full value, which should be far north of here, and lets not forget..like MI6..we have our own Q..(Tay).
Many thanks to him for all his brilliant, well researched posts!
Me too..a good time to add methinks.
Fingers crossed things will start to happen soon and like you say..if big Mike is confident, (holding almost a third of the company) then its good enough for me.

Best not to get too carried away. Ill be more than happy if we consolidate in the 10s today. Dont think well have an rns (sorry sh3) but should move up nice and steady.
Hopefully more good news trickling out next week and expect a decent rise on news of Winterplex being bought here and in France and Germany for starters.
Main problem for GM is going to be how to keep up with the demand this winter and into spring 2021.
Consensus of possible takeover price seems to be in the 30s..I think thats fair but maybe a bit on the low side.
My guess would be £35 to £50 ps if it happens.
Some will have panicked (esp those who bought at recent highs) and some will have been stopped out. I think its a mistake to use stop losses, esp in AIM shares but each to their own.
Still got all mine..feeling calm and looking forward to the next few days and weeks in particular. 'Lots' of good news to come that will push the sp nothwards again.
Crazy to sell now imo.
Never get your expectations too high..just enjoy the rollercoaster ride and remember why your invested here. Nothing has changed apart from some big moneybags investors pumping and dumping a few.
Normality will resume shortly.

I think thats a decent guess given all that NCYT has to offer at present (pre game changer news) but if it happens early next year..whoever the suitor might be, will have to pay more than that
..if new technology will supersede PCR and lead to a drop in the sp...I wouldnt spend too much time worrying.
Heres the Australian view.
https://amp.abc.net.au/article/12808176
Pretty much the same view as all other experts in the field really..PCR was, is and will be for a long time to come, 'the' gold standard test and Novacyt is at the top of the premier league of PCR testing.
All other tests will be complimentary to PCR.
Heres an excerpt for those without the time or inclination to follow the link..
Professor Williamson said even if rapid antigen tests were used in some settings, PCR tests would remain the go-to diagnostic test in Australia.
"Anything else is complementary to that, certainly not a replacement for it, especially in our well resourced and low prevalence setting," she said.
"There has been a lot of debate about the opportunities and challenges associated with rapid antigen testing … I think the jury is still out."
