re Q2 - just sell your shares just before the ex-spec div date and you will have a capital gain instead. good if you hold your shares as part of an ISA/SIPP, not so good if you have just a normal dealing/GIA. then you are subject to potential CGT.

my average buy-in price is £2-20. so if the buying company sees this post then acts on it, all well and good for absolutely every-one!
