Wise/Pat I think MTRO fell to £8.89 at close which probably means some announcement about the funding tomorrow 7am. Morgan Stanley recon £7.90 - I will be looking closely tomorrow but tread carefully. If it does fall that low then it must be worth a punt?

Sorry FF but you are totally wrong - common thing to issue options that are immediately sold in situations like this. I have done it myself and been involved with many investments where it has happened. It amazes me that you still seem to believe that this will take years. The executive will ensure a smooth transition as part of the arrangements.

Thanks dimi - that is a great deal! I trade over 3 accounts with ii - SIPP - ISA and normal trading account and although I find the service to be excellent I am paying £10 a trade. Seems a lot compared to you but it does not seem long ago when it used to cost such a lot more and be so very much more onerous so I will not complain.

Doubt it - shorters selling loads of small numbers to lower the price. No real holder would sell with the imminent news.

I am a little surprised that you do not manage your own pension with a SIPP Super - you know at least as much as the professionals and you enjoy the process.

My biggest issue with potentially buying into Barrick as I would be keen to do if they merge with Newmont is that it costs about 3% to convert £ to $ within a trading account which you would have to do as they are US listed and then another 3% to convert back when you sell so 6% in addition to the spread, taxes and brokerage - really puts me off. When this deal is concluded I’ll list a few companies that I intend to invest in and my reasons why - perhaps a few others would do the same? I don’t pretend to understand the SP today but it will make no difference to the end result.

I don’t know what the Directors residence is for tax purposes but sometimes, most times in fact, there is not much you can do about timing - they won’t hold a deal up so to potential ease a Directors tax position. The FCA have no input into the issue of options - I think shareholders gave agreement to the quantum of the options which are now vesting - I am fairly sure this will also be covered when we receive a prospectus outlining the terms of deal. You allude to the period prior to announcement of results when directors are not allowed to trade their share but that is not relevant here. I would suspect when we agree the deal the shares we be issued and sold leaving the directors to pay the relevant tax and carry home a large bag of cash. This will be done and dusted before the end of March. Whatever will we do with ourselves without ACA to watch?

Well GH I am fairly sure that is why I remain invested with now well over 200,000 shares. I would have liked to have bought in at 93 the all time low but I joined a couple of years ago and initially paid £2.89 ish - I have added more at various times as recently as yesterday and am well in profit but I continue to hold, as I believe we will achieve resolution with the GoT, the fact that over time a sale has become more likely only adds to my resolve. In a perfect world I would not have bought in so early and swooped at 93p then sold a few days ago at £2.60 to buy again at £2.17 but the world does not work like that. I do not trade this share and certainly will not now as the chance of missing the big rise to make a few £ by trading is too great - at least for me. Be happy things will come good - you have suffered the pain now reap the rewards.

Hi 123, welcome, I share you desire for news but let’s be realistic- the meeting agreeing the options completed on the 26th, that was Tuesday, it is now Thursday morning and preparing a prospectus to issue to Shareholders takes time, there are a lot of regulations let alone checking and printing. The news is great - the SP has not yet reflected this but it will we just need to be a little more patient - news is imminent.

No problem STB - the just for clarity the £3.66 is not the target figure or even likely figure for a sale - it is just a good indicator of the likely baseline. I am more confident than ever - despite the lacklustre performance of the SP so far today that an announcement of a deal will get us to £4 and an offer will be over £5.

I agree it does not guarantee a takeover but to remain as is would require the support of Barrick who have virtually stated point blank that ACA will be taken up by it or sold to Chinese - so you can be fairly/absolutely confident that is what will happen.

£2.44 is the benchmark price - RNS says that to get 100% of the options the price has to be 50% higher so £3.66. If you are going to lose your job then knowing that you have a pile of options that will become payable eases the pain quite a lot. This invariably happens just before a deal is announced and is the best indicator that the BoD are going to support it. Although ultimately it would have been very difficult for the BoD to block a deal if they do not support it things are more complicated and referred to as a hostile (ie against the wishes of the board) takeover.

I feel obliged to comment that the PFC result are out they are pretty good, especially as they have reduced debt - 26c dividend for holders on 26th April - nevertheless as I believe the shorters will have another push I have exited my punt at nil cost.

Why the SP has not leapt up this morning is frankly amazing - it will - granting of the options is almost certainly the final indication that a deal is imminent.

ACA announce (RNS) that options have been granted based on a price of £2.44:- Peter Geleta, Chief Executive Officer Nil-cost option over 696,664 shares Jaco Maritz, Chief Financial Officer Nil-cost option over 401,596 shares Charlie Ritchie, Head of Legal and Compliance Nil-cost option over 494,386 shares Full options do not vest unless ACA outperform index by 50%. As Super has previously remarked this is a very important part of the process and suggests that a deal is going to be recommended by the ACA board!
