I think it is extremely unlikely that KD can remain working for both companies especially if they had any form of tie up with the smelter unless of course Aca were a subsidiary. I still think it will be Barrick that make offer for shares they don’t own then do a deal with Shandong and that this will be at least announced before KD leaves.

Good article Vijay - I read through the whole thing. You will agree that there is a big difference between a 50% economic interest and giving GoT 50% of Tanzanian mines. I would be surprised if Mr T had traveled to Tanzania and took part in meeting with the Bulldozer with ACA board being aware - I knew about the trip and watched the webcast as did many others. The gold mining industry has had a history over many years of destroying capital and I totally agree with Barricks decision to reduce debt - opportunities will arise, problems will be overcome and the share price will rise - even the price of gold will one day, hopefully soon, begin to rise and the company with the strongest balance sheet will be best placed to benefit. Finally you do not need a CEO if you have an Executive Chairman.

Hi Super, Not a very active board on AGK you seem to be the only commentator! I will however take your advice and pay more attention to it. With regard to KAZ I think it is the Russian deal that has hit them hard - especially as large proportion of shares involved which means if the price is driven down the seller gets more - ripe for manipulation, shorters will be having a field day.

MW have taken their short up to 0.62% - MQ remain at 0.59 as of 31st July. They search for pennies and will miss the opportunity for pounds.

Sorry slightly off topic but we have mentioned KAZ - it is being hit from all sides today and down 30% to about £6. Some long term holders anticipate it could fall to £4 others fear £2 whilst yet others see a swift rise to £15. I suppose my point is wherever you invest your money you are at risk - we have been through our bad news and hope for good news which if it comes will put us in an even stronger position in relation to the relative value of other stocks.

Reading your post more carefully- if you have spoken to or contacted ACA and they have confirmed that he has not resigned then it can be only 1 or 2. I have checked the approved code of conduct to which all directors (exec and non exec) must comply with and it clearly states that they cannot be involved with a competitor which Anglo certainly are. They could potentially get board approval for a limited period but there lie dragons and I just don’t think people at this level would put themselves so obviously at risk.

Hi Super but whether you see a conflict of interest or not he cannot be Chairman ACA which is effectively a subsidiary of Barrick whilst CEO of Anglo - sorry but at the very least he would need approval from LSE and probably shareholder approval- further he would be crazy to open himself up to such a potential conflict. 1, 2 or 3 there are no other choices.

Hi Super - not an issue for Anglo but unprecedented for ABX and due to potential conflicts of interest (real or perceived) almost certainly against the listing rules. It is not up to Anglo. For the reasons I have alluded to before I to see the fact that there has not yet been an RNS as a good sign.

Sometimes life gets in the way but hold as hard as you can for as long as you can. I absolutely believe that things will be sorted out soon. £2.85 seems a long way off but that could change overnight - without the shorters that would be the price now, you were not stupid to buy you, like me, just got the timing wrong. I hope you sent an email to Sally about a buyback as that would change things now without any deal. If you have to sell then hold as many as you can - good luck, I hope things work out.

I can see the crossing trade of 378,792 at 16.35 but has been pointed out before and as frustrating as it might be this trade means nothing. Must admit you do appear to be a bit negative at the moment Franky - everything OK?

Hi Franky, it does not matter if he is Exec Chairman or non - exec Chairman- that is merely a title that defines his role. The Chairman is appointed by the board and is a Director therefore all my previous comments hold good whatever role or function he has with any deal or negotiation. Therefore it has to be 1,2 or 3 you are opting for 3 which is of course entirely possible. I am very sure that any interested party will have a view on exactly what the company is worth and on the likelihood of a deal with GoT- I do agree that an agreement with GoT will need to be in place before a sale, if one is on the cards, is completed. My point is not that he is or is not intrinsic to any deal but that he cannot be Chairman of ACA whilst working for Anglo.

It would be totally unheard of for KD to remain as Chairman of ACA whilst CEO of a competitor - Anglo. So 1. ACA will be sold before he goes 2. ACA will be sold to Anglo but this could raise a conflict of interest as KD already stated his intention to join Anglo or 3. ACA are in breach of the listing rules by not publishing a RNS to advise of KD’s resignation. Take you pick it can only be one of those 3 options - I choose option 1.

That is because shorters have to sell so few shares (in relative terms) to take the market back down and why it would be so easy for a share buyback to be effective. If ACA act the share price would go back to £2.5/£3 before we get the next lift from an announcement of a deal with the GoT.
