Announce terms of Chinese offer and bid from Barrick Group for ACA shares.

DOW did well today on hopes of a deal with China at the G20. Those hopes crashed as Trump states that he has no intention of easing his hard line stance in fact likely that things will get tougher. DOW futures crashed on news so expect large correction tomorrow - gold should do well. Anticipate ACA to start upward momentum again.

Well P, your trade has made you about £600 over a weekend - not bad especially as the funds have probably not even left your account! FRES used to have a reputation as a good trading share and if you get the timings right you have proved that money can be made. Well done.

Sorry P, also I note that FRES market cap appears to be £5.5 billion if they are only producing 500,000 ounces then that does not compare too well to our current market cap of less than £800 million with the same production target.

Hi P, yes the Trade War tensions which to a large extent have been dealt with between Mexico and US but the New Mexican President is likely to change the legislation for miners and seek higher royalties - sound familiar? Two broker downgraded to £7.30 and £7.15. I think FRES is a great co and will benefit from RRS delist - long term strong co - personally I would have upped my stake in Aca as short term good news likely soon whereas more downward pressure continues on FRES - I will certainly be looking at FRES after the deal with GoT and buyout here.

The best advice I can give you STB is read back through the posts that will give you a good idea of the general thinking. We are hoping to reach an agreement with GoT and that our major shareholder will make an offer - we hope that all this will happen over the next few months. I think you have stumbled onto an opportunity but DYOR.

The problem with that solution is three fold Super - firstly if we were party to building something and were assured that we could offset the costs against tax - the next minute this would be forgotten and we would be accused of not paying our fair share secondly we are UK registered co and so pay corp tax in this country for this reason we pay GoT a royalty on the gold we produce - after such a squabble I would not think it wise to offset the cost against a hard won royalty agreement and thirdly a smelter even a cheap one requires massive infrastructure around it at a massive cost - no thank you, get some clever people to help with job creation and support that by all means but forget the smelter - please.

Let’s hope all the talk of a smelter has evaporated- it would cost a fortune and I would not want us to be the ones to foot the bill and I am sure we will not. There must be easier/cheaper ways to raise employment figures. There is no real dispute over the value of the gold we were exporting it was just a ruse to get us to renegotiate. The concentrate on the docks is worth something like $250/$300 million.

Surely the schedule would be easily resolved just depends on up front payment and number of years for residual after factoring in the $180 million we are currently owed in VAT. Without confirmation that the agreement and initial payment settles once and for all time all of the outstanding matters we should not hand over anything (nor will we) - the GoT will realise this can and must be the only way to proceed. Takeover closes on 28th December so the next few weeks will be decisive.

Gold down about $4 from day high so who knows. FRES being kicked again today down (69p) to about £7.40 on broker downgraded suggesting trouble with Mexican legislators - we know what that is like. FRES will come back but I’m not sure when. CEY also down so gold lost its lustre today but I am still hopeful that we can finish strong - expect £1.95 but I will be happy if we break £1.90.

FTSE Down about 40 points £ falling - Spain unhappy with Gibraltar- Brexit in a mess, Asia down overnight. I am predicting DOW to fall another couple of 100 points today and most U.K. equity and commodity stocks to fall yet further. Happy to be sitting tight here £1.95 close?

I think the FTSE 250 reshuffle takes place every quarter - the next being end of December - must be announced soon.

Hi Pat, sorry that you are being punished with your other shares. Nice rise on CEY although it must have scared you for a while! I think the pain surrounding the Brexit/ non Brexit deal is going to get worse, housing stocks did well today but I am sorry to say I think this will be short lived and they are in for a lot more (unjustified on any reasonable analysis) pain. £ rose on hope of resolution but it will fall again once the shouting starts (?). Right or wrong and whichever way you voted I think we either go it alone and work to make it good (tax reduction/suspend stamp duty/invest in apprenticeship’s etc etc or we remain and really throw ourselves behind a Federalised EU with every closer ties - I used to believe in our politicians/administration but they have managed to loose my respect over the entire negotiation so who knows might not be so bad. Barbados is good at any time of the year - I certainly agree you should not sell ACA now best to wait - ATB.

Yes Super I agree that the MW % is going in the right direction but they still have 2.8 million shares to buy back (where from no one is going to sell now) which from this point could easily take us to £2.50 without any other news - they can’t wait for a deal to be announced with GoT especially if it is followed up by an offer.

Well we very nearly managed to hold £1.90. I notice that MW decreased their short to 0.69%. So Pat is it Barbados for you - lots of offers at the moment!

There is also actually good news in that the FED have indicated that after the December rate rise they may halt further increases - this would take the upward pressure off the $ and benefit gold. Ok the price of gold is not the biggest factor in our situation but a higher price can only help us and if we are offered ABX shares and become a full part of the worlds largest gold miner then it will be very relevant.

After a strong day the Dow has fallen into negative territory that coupled with the latest demands from the EU concerning fishing rights and Gibraltar bringing yet another stumbling block on the road to Brexit; tomorrow could be another messy day.

Slightly disappointed to note that Richard Williams Barrick COO who was running the negotiations with GoT has left - he is being replaced by Rangold guy Willem Jacobs. I am sure that with what he had to deal with RW did a good job but WJ is the guru for African negotiations so all things considered this must be a good move for us. I expect the SP to rise again tomorrow, let’s hope we can secure that £1.90 and break £2 bu the end of the week.

I agree, it has nearly been a month since the imprisonment with no comment from ACA following the original announcement. I can only hope they are not in fact forgotten but that work is going on in the background to secure their release - we can only speculate as we have been told nothing. The timeline for an announcement is certainly close, possibly before Christmas with the deal concluding early in the new year seems likely but in any event it will be soon.
