News of agreement and completion of a deal are two different things Stock. You could well be right but I am more inclined to think there will be news this side of new year and completion of a deal after new year - either way I’m happy.

US pass bill to include $5.7 billion for the wall so government will not shut down - this will take some pressure off downward trend for DOW and more likely to see rise on open. Will we get news after close today of deal with GoT?

Super I think there was probably some negotiation or discussion going on that caused KD to delay his resignation from ACA - at the end of the day we were right that he could not be involved with both companies but there was an unusual delay in the announcement. Personally I think it unlikely but not impossible that Anglo would like to get involved with ACA they are more likely to want to be involved in selling their Tanzanian assets to the Chinese along with ACA and whatever ex Rangold African mines MB may decide to sell. PMO 50p tomorrow?

Hi dimi - gold price took a big dip this morning then rose confidently throughout the day - it should go down on a rising dollar but the rest of the market is so screwed that it acted contrary to the norm increasingly seen as safe haven. I think that equities particularly financials will suffer more tomorrow whatever happens here still the best opportunity and hedge on the market. We took a beating this morning then climbed back a little - the rise will come don’t weaken now.

Well the markets were agreeing with Super but went into meltdown following the Fed’s move to raise rate by 0.25% even though they did actually reduce the number of anticipated rises next year to 2 or 3 from 4.They even seem to admit that forecasting is difficult - well who knew? Dow reversed 3% on release - UK will suffer tomorrow gold likely to fall but I am hoping we in ACA will continue to rise. Hold hard.

You could be right Super, personally I think he will raise rates for December but will be more dovish about the Fed’s intentions for 2019. They had forecast 4 more rises next year although you would have hoped/expected that the economy would determine this as the year went on a a full year forecast is actually damaging but nevertheless perhaps they will dial it down. Powell speaks at 18.30 GMT. Good day for us hopefully we can hold the break back through 1.90 and challenge our year high before the news.

Good article Super. We have commented that GOLD (ABX/RRS new ticker) will be MB’s baby and with his track record I am happy with that especially as he has the rock of JT to rely on. MB knows the world is watching for him to stamp his mark on the company and resolve the ACA issues and he will do. I am very inclined to keep the new cos $ shares when we are inevitably offered them as I believe that the gold mining industry needs the shake up that these guys will deliver. Interestingly (at least to me) I recently read that if the gold price has been allowed to keep pace fairly with equities and by that I mean without the constant printing of paper money and massive QE ‘investment’ then it would be at something like €10,000 per ounce now. I don’t see it getting that high without a war, so let’s hope not, but with the financial world in the mess it is in now then the price should certainly go a lot higher whilst I still believe equities will fall through 2019. Equities have fallen 20% from their year high but probably another 20 or 30% to go to produce a reasonable and normal PE this will not happen overnight but I can’t see anything to stop it happening over time. So will we hear news this week, probably but news is coming.

I suppose we should be grateful for a pretty uneventful day as we move 1 step closer to resolution. I have had a small pint into SHG in the hope that they will benefit from Tanzanian settlement - might be worth a look. Anyone invested in HGM? - 5p ex div day Thursday but price been dropping this weak -wary of Russian involvement but interesting reaction to increased dividend.

Maybe yes maybe no but the end result will be the same and soon - you can try to trade in and out for a few £00 but you run the risk of being out at the wrong time - as always make your own decisions. As for me if the dips become interesting I will buy more but I will not run the risk of selling any.

Well HH that would presume that we did not have more funds available to buy on the dips but we do. Did you buy in HH? How are your other positions doing as you have been around since £1 - hope you followed our advice and brought in?

Opportunists. If there were real concerns the volume would be much higher.

The MM’s are allowed to delay showing trades - you may ask why - your trade Pat appears late and as a sell - I would imagine most of the sells in that list are buys as well. Low volume again today and dispute the fact we have caught out the reporting it still showing more buys than sells for the day. They tried - they failed who knows what they will try tomorrow but the real momentum is still rising - the institutions are holding firm so should we.

Well done Pat - you should probably not sent the shorters a Christmas card but you could raise a glass to them at some point as a thank you - I know I will.

Sorry Super has seen ACA’s RNS re not aware of an investigation (and they would be if there was one) I was suggesting that it would be good if they found a moment to comment/confirm presss speculation that a deal with GoT is close. Again I admire your faith in the insurance industry but I think that it is more difficult in practice although as we are speculating about an false report happy to leave it there. Last chance for shorters and they are making a fist of it - they are desperate to exit and the false SFO info has helped them a little - notice drop at open in US - only to be expected but nothing has really changed and the price will jump up again soon. An opportunity to add?

Well dimi - I don’t think the SFO are investigating but let’s be honest even if they were it would not deter GoT from reaching an agreement nor would it have any affect on the Barrick offer -I was poised and eager to buy if the price had feel further today but never mind - what we really need now is an RNS confirming that the press speculation about a deal with GoT being in final stages is correct.

Hi dimi - It’s amazing how to fill their pages one publication simply quotes or indeed in this case misquotes another - doesn’t make it any more real but thanks for sharing. It’s not good news and the timing is suspicious but it will not change my position.

Personally I would have thought the last thing GoT would want is a SFO enquiry slowing the whole resolution down - they want this deal done quickly - more likely a planted story to shake a few shares loose.

Super I remember you stating that you were involved in the insurance world and you certainly have faith in the insurance industry, my own experience has been less wholesome - this sort of news is never good but ultimately it is nothing more than a distraction.

Sorry T, I didn’t mean to suggest that you were doing anything other than making us aware of the RNS. I simply meant that if it was a credible report then the volume would have been higher as institutional investors sold - the low volume just suggests the normal shorter activity and of course some of the more jumpy PI’s as you suggest. Just one more point - all of the alleged wrongdoing that has resulted in arrests etc predates the existence of ACA as a publicly quoted company on the LSE - if the SFO were inclined to investigate then they would look at Barrick Africa the presumably Canadian subsidiary of Barrick Gold at the time and therefore outside their jurisdiction. Never a dull moment here, whatever will we do after the deal with GoT has been resolved and ACA has been acquired by Barrick - count our money I suppose!
