Well done Stock that was a very proactive move - I thought it was a misprint or just badly written but you have cleared that up.

I agree Elly and the only way I can see to get the $190 bn sorted is for an agreement with GoT to be in place. I also agree that MB is best man for the job. The current board of ACA are interim they were put in place by Barrick to keep things running and our results confirm they are doing this - they will want this sorted so they can get on with their lives they are not going to block a deal which will be in everyone’s best interests. As far as ACA goes Barrick call the shots and to think otherwise would be naive. Corporate Governance requires that the ACA board recommend the offer and I am sure they will.

Stock Barrick will make an offer to buy ACA but they will not do it until an agreement with GoT is completed otherwise Barrick would have to account for $190 bn potential tax liability. Lots of opportunities out there Stock if you are averaging £1.20 (comes as a bit of a surprise) perhaps you could make more elsewhere - why do you hold if there is so much worry about here?

So from the whole positive article you pick one line that simply suggests that company law requires ACA to approve the deal - nothing we did not know or expect or that has not been raised many times before - ACA its board and shareholders will I am sure be fully behind a resolution. Making up things like Barrick dismissing the whole board does not add or develop the argument Stock and the fact that you have just done that confirms my thoughts about you.

We have discussed the timing of events based on the news we have been given, remember we did not make up the timelines we have been talking about they were drawn from comments made by Barrick, JT and MB. Given the same facts over again we would draw the same conclusions what we have learnt is that as negotiations develop things change - who knew.

As you may have noticed Stock what we all agree means nothing as we are not directly involved with the negotiations - that is between Barrick and GoT- we can speculate as much as we like based on the facts we are presented with but our musings mean nothing - surely you realise that? I do not believe Barrick will buy up the ACA shares - and potentially take on a (disputed) tax liability before a deal with GoT is concluded removing/crystallising the tax liability and that is good for us as our SP will rise on announcement. Stock you have said before you are willing to wait years to have this sorted out so why are you fretting?

If your are in any doubt that a deal will be done - MB’s own statement should help you;- Bristow added: “I have no doubt that we will get there. We are absolutely clear we will bring this stand-off to an amicable resolution. There is no way out other than a positive outcome.

What I had failed to realise is that Barrick had originally purchased North Mara from Rangold begofe it was split off into ACA - this feels significant as MB will certainly know the history. MB not yet met with the Bulldozer and I suspect when this happens and as Elly suggests it will be the Bulldozer himself that announces the agreement. Barrick will not buy ACA, if that is to happen, until a deal with GoT has been signed nor will any money be handed over. The more chatter we have on the news services (as ably provided by ELLY l) the better but when you are negotiating a deal in circumstances like these you cannot set a hard completion date as the other side can and would use that against you so you work to a timeframe but as Barrick have already shown if that timeframe becomes a burden you extend it so it will be done soon but not held hostage to a arbitrary reporting date. I’ll wait.

Thanks MP, I made over £1500 on MTRO and SNN and lost £60 on NCC so I was happy enough with them. I might even have another punt in MTRO again or then again I might not.

A little unfair don’t you think Pat - as you choose to forget I suggested to have a look at MTRO and SNN - you decided to buy. I stated that it was a quick trade and I confirmed when I sold out - if you decided to invest or hold for more profit then own it and don’t blame me. I will however refrain from speculating about other stocks on this board.

Well E, the intentions of the GoT could not be clearer than outlined in that article. Your speed on relaying is amazing - could well be the reason for the jump. In any event I am happy with it.

I too think that the Feds statement re patience will help us. The gold price has already risen to $1319. Pitching in on the gold price versus SP comments and although I accept that our Beta rate is less affected by the price of gold than other miners as we are so primed for news of a deal, it seems only common sense to me that if our AISC ( total cost of producing for an ounce of gold) is c$950 then earlier in the year when gold was c$1150 and we we making $200 per ounce and now it is at $1319 and we are making $369 per ounce or roughly 60% more, is a wholly good thing.

Hi dimi, I did have about 10 ish stocks on average but decided to divest everything other than ACA until I felt more confident about the market in general - goes to show how confident I am of ACA! Personally I don’t like owning too many because as you rightly say it is difficult to stay on top of more and I don’t want to just trust to luck - although I do feel that I am lucky or perhaps as someone once said the more I practice the luckier I get. I watch about 20 stocks so that I can get to know them and adjust my position should the opportunity arise. I still feel the market may face more pain over the coming months and I have put myself into position to take advantage of any opportunity.

Hi MP I hold ACA and cash. There certainly are some opportunities out there and more are raising their heads every day. At some point I will spend the cash I have and invest, my risk is that stock values will have risen your risk is they the 36 stocks you hold will be worth less - that is the game but how lucky we are to have such choices.
