marararasb - no surprise really, for IAG. There is no prospect of the transatlantic routes opening up properly for many weeks. The best to hope for is a couple of limited routes with enhanced testing. Rights issue for Easy Jet is the unexpected bit since they have the EU market and so the cash flow should be good. Easy J was already cheap and therefore a potential target, I did muse that a few days ago. I suspect the rights issue has a lot to do with fattening up the pig for slaughter! But it has a knock on effect for IAG too. Best cover for IAG to grab some market money is when everybody else is doing it. The other big option for IAG is to sell off the BA asset. That I think is also on the cards. However, would that be a good thing for IAG holders? Very difficult to say without a road map to opening up the main market for that part of the business. IAG was always going to decline in the sp without the transatlantic routes, would it go sub 150 before a signal that the transatlantic would open? That was answered today, and whilst some will argue it was Easy that pulled down the sector and IAG, the reality is there is a fundamental problem in the market.
