I expected this to be the route chosen, otherwise the Astra long route for FDA approval would take more months. This was suggested within the Whitehouse a couple of months ago if I remember. This is one of a number of hurdles to get over. It should have been very easy to say this months back and one wonders why there has been such foot dragging. It seems that planet wide there has been a campaign from the very top to stop or deter international travel for as long as possible.

My estimate is still for end of November for US open travel based on the length of time it has taken make decisions on the most elementary basic points like using the WHO list of vaccines. Next, I want to hear will it be all ports open or just a select few hub ports open. For example, will we have to enter the US through Atlanta and then fly over to Vegas or will we be able to fly direct to Vegas [and any other airport]. With the wide variation of covid tracking systems that are a long way from being unified across the states, I will not be surprised to find there will be some states at the start that we will not be able to fly to directly.
Then there will be the testing regime and, an outside possability, will there need to be a quarantine time? 2 and /or 8 day tests that have to be submitted to the local police station or some such? There is a long way to go yet.

Yes, the pre travel order was examined at check in and it is described as such by the company. It is very unlikely they would get very far selling a fake test. The order code was accepted by the pre flight passenger locator form issuing the bar code to get on the plane. So I would say it is good, unless I get a knock at the door later!

It is by post and no need to video the test either. I can confirm the test was accepted by check in in Iceland, and they were quite thorough. At Heathrow, no document check and for once the auto passport gate worked for me. In fact I passed through T5 on return quicker than many minor EU airports!!! Q3 November is cop26 month. The media is going to be hysterical and aviation is very firmly a prime target. The big reset campaign is working closely with the environmental cultists and coupled with a completely compliant media to which the current crop of political leaders bow and pray too. There are likely to be significant curbs on individual freedom of movement called for. And in the present mad climate even the most extreme campaigns might win, namely giving people a flight mile cap over 5 years or some such. November is going to be a very difficult month for all airline stocks.

I suspect the relief on IAG this morning may be in part to expected good news for Aer Lingus with IAG diverting more funds to save it.

This is very bad for BA though. The EU commission will have a large say on where the Euros go - stay with the ECB mechanism passing from the IAG book to the Aer Lingus book as opposed to being converted to Sterling and leaving the EUMU. Also, Ireland is still one of the soviet states in Europe and so the commission will enforce whatever rules it has in the constitution and ECB to make IAG look after the EU airline ahead of BA. Remember, the EU commission presumes ownership of all goods chattels people industries business and money within its borders.

Therefore, BA may not receive expected additional support form the liquidity pot. Indeed, if no other part of the group required funds, the commission may well still stop money going to BA at the moment arguing 'Europe first' but not making the error of having baseball caps emblazoned with the slogan!! BA's options on finincaing, especially if the US opens end on Nov, may be limited.

There are many unknowns and the switcheroo is rapidly running out of time.

He answered intense city speculation that hammered the sp. He calmed the market by confirming no EMERGENCY tapping of funds from shareholders. He then went on to say financing options were in discussion covering various scenarios as a pre planning exercise. This was in order to AVOID resorting to another fund raise. Critically, those scenarios include which end of November the US routes open. Gain a month income or not. The details of the opening of the US route are potentially very important. They may determine what those financial options are, or are not leaving only a RI on the table. It is naive in the extreme to dismiss the probability that further dilution and/or debt is on the way. The market has repriced that in now emergency RI has been dismissed.

But there is one think to remember. Just because it was dismissed one day, it doesn't mean it won't happen. On of the reasons people like the ceo get such high remuneration is because they will fall on the sword and U turn as instructed. They then resign with the compensation package. It is not unusual for certain 'names' to be hired to do the dirty slashing work forces, chopping up companies or put in place on the understanding of what action to take despite the wroth of the share holders or iis.
