RE: US opening date15 Oct 2021 11:57
When I mean 'covering' Hexham I should of said reducing the loss. If it is an open offer to all of the form the Easy J for example, you are allocated x shares for every y you own, there are various options to buys and average down, sell the rights, part sell and buy ect... the point being you can get something out of it. If it were a debt swap, you get nothing at all and the sp is just diluted.
As for the Qataires buying a bigger stake, they only have to tell the market their intentions, i.e. passive shareholders with no take-over intention. However, they have such a big chunk now it wouldn't be difficult to end up taking it over given the size of debt that the banks may insist on being removed to more serviceable levels. I still think if it is the case that Qataris put a big chunk of cash in, they would have no interest in ownership of IAG with a load of hard pressed airlines on it's books, I think they would want BA alone. Would IAG hand it over or put BA up for sale so others could get a chunk? All wild speculation but there is a rather large steaming pile of do do that is going to have to be addressed as the recovery unfolds. Big decisions will be made when the US open date is known!!!
