Well after two furlongs of this very competitive race, we have an outright leader in balman on VAL, a nice looking filly out of Doonigan. She's setting a blistering pace, but has she gone to early with three and a half furlongs still to go. Old boy Filtertips, is an interesting bred colt coming from the Woodbine stable, has moved nicely into second place tracking the leader. BB on TYM has crept through the field to take third place.
Not to sure what's happened to champion jockey Camkite aboard the volatile Lion, he's either a few lbs overweight due to early mince pie consumption, or a saddle slip. Although trailing the pack by some distance at this stage, he's not to be ruled out as the wiley old Jockey is known for pulling it out of the bag !
