What's not to like.. This is excellent for a p2.. Plus includes idea for usage for those who may contract flu and Covid together... To have peer review in the Lancet is huge and the title ensures great chance of pick up by Lancet alerts set by subscribers and non-subscribers...

'In conclusion, SNG001, a treatment already studied and shown to be well tolerated in patients with asthma and COPD, seems to also be well tolerated in patients admitted to hospital with COVID-19, with a range of clinical outcomes displaying a beneficial pattern of response to SNG001 therapy. These encouraging data provide a strong rationale for larger, international studies in the context of the ongoing clinical burden of COVID-19. In addition to a phase 3 trial of SNG001 in patients admitted to hospital with COVID-19 requiring no more than supplementary oxygen, it might be appropriate to also assess the safety and efficacy of SNG001 in ventilated, critically ill patients with COVID-19 who have evidence of active viral infection in the lungs. In view of the broad antiviral effects of interferon-ß, the results of this pilot trial suggest that the efficacy of SNG001 should also be assessed in the hospital setting against other seasonal respiratory viruses, which cause considerable morbidity and mortality every year, including cases of SARS-CoV-2 co-infection, which could overwhelm health-care systems during the coming months in the northern hemisphere.'

Note the wording ‘clinical evaluation’ and ‘new testing technologies as they are made available’. The latter tells me they are going with what they have available at the moment but will change to new and better as soon as available which is where Avacta will come in. The door isn't closing/closed it's been left widely open.
Now check the wording in the Avacta tweet below…’ We are preparing for the first clinical evaluation of the rapid antigen test and will update the market fully when that study begins.’
Now look at the PHE valuation stages…is Avacta going to be entering Phase 3a or possibly Phase 3b as Phase 2 is Pre-Clinical Evaluation…has Avacta completed Phase 2.
Finally, France looks like it's going to go into stricter lockdown measures per Govt announcement tonight. Covis patients being transferred to other hospitals in other Departments/Regions to try and cope with overflow. The UK Govt knows the UK is heading the same way and they are desperate to get as much testing capacity out there quickly...
Think we can all forget the Christmas office parties his year...!!!!

As part of the government’s strategy for testing the effectiveness of this new technology, these new tests are being piloted across England. This includes a 2-week whole-city pilot in Liverpool, which was launched last week.
We are absolutely committed to using the latest testing technology to make asymptomatic testing available in more areas.
The government has also committed to providing the devolved authorities with access to new testing technologies as they are made available,
The 4-stage process is:
• phase 1 – desktop review to identify tests with potentially high specificity and sufficient sensitivity
• phase 2 – pre-clinical evaluation in lab
• phase 3a – secondary healthcare evaluation
• phase 3b – community research evaluation using volunteer patients and staff
• phase 4 – community pilot field service evaluation in a variety of settings’

Cummon guys. What does a Clinical Trial mean for Avacta right now knowing what the Govt is doing in the real world by rolling out LFTs by doing a dual test on each one they roll out... Testing the test..

Liverpool was a test and they were only asking people with no symptoms to go to the new test centres because they needed to make sure the new lateral flow test picked up asymptomatic cases. Hence the test comprised a LFT and PCR test too.

This has to be good news for Avacta... If the LFT failed then we would be dragged down by the negativity... But no.. We will be known as the gold standard of Lateral Flow Tests once we come to market...

The people of Liverpool are not going en mass for testing...

Someone involved with the Liverpool testing did say they were testing the test... To make sure it's picking up asymptomatics... Hense swabbing back of throat and up nose...
From a Govts point of view they have been forced into mass testing now and can only use what is available to them at the time. Avacta has yet to prove it can manufacture to scale and each kit does what they say it can do... That's not the Govts purchasing depts fault....
I don't think anyone quite comprehends the amount of tests needed for full population scale up going forward. They are talking about key workers testing themselves daily before going to work...now add this to non-key workers... The numbers are mind boggling...
Forget Govt contracts... There is going to be huge demand from the private sector which I'm sure going forward the Govt will insist they cover their own costs for testing... We do our employees.. You do yours...

Pharma bets on the little guys by doing a early stage deal/joint venture... Lots of ifs and buts in the clauses.. If all goes well then they do the takeover/farming in...
We don't know who is talking to who right now and what info/science is being shared...

Pfizer is US company and will be looking for Govt contracts from Bidens administration, plus emergency usage etc etc.. So obvious...
