The Pfizer and Moderna announcements where business statements based on interim results from trials... They are NOT and HAVE NOT been peer reviewed and are therefore not supported by the Scientific world right now. They are also vaccinations based on new technology and the scientific world will be looking to dig deep into the full results.
Govts are using the business sentiment to try and reassure their populations.
This virus is not going to be cured by vaccines. If Govts want to get us all back to normality then Testing and Treatments will feature heavily for a long time to come.

But isn't that why in Liverpool they ran a PCR test alongside to see how accurate the testing was... LIVERPOOL WAS A TRIAL...
Just hope we don't get dragged down by this poor swab test. Saliva tests should be more accurate as they collect more of the virus from many areas around the mouth and throat and if you take a sip of saline first and swill it around the mouth it helps to release more virus cells and then you spit the whole lot into the collecting tube. The saline also helps break open the cells to release more of the hidden virus.

Is at all possible that clinical evaluation could be done in the field...rather than the lab? Could it be possible that a batch of Avacta kits could be used in a couple of care homes for example with back up PCR test to confirm reliability.
