Well done Hill, yeah I think 320 was the resistance. Seacations/Staycations are saving the day. Again, as long as the ships are moving with passengers on them we are all good, there making money and stopping any cash burn.
I would expect from the results huge demand and future bookings too

No worries, they also knew Thomas Cook was going bust on the Thursday before. I was told that they ‘predict’ Thomas Cook will go bust on Sunday night!!! It went bust at 2am Monday morning!! Not a bad prediction eh. Within 2 hours!

PPS...They pretty much have a direct line to government....after the Thomas Cook retail takeover.....trust me!!

PS - I know Irene, and was in the board room when all the Thomas Cook crash happened so I know how they work!

Sum, yes exactly, there will be a lot of contacting and juggling customers around depending on there preference and already booked etc etc. So a lot more logistical organisation than people think, bearing in mind most of the cruises are already full, that’s a lot of customers to sort and ‘consolidate’
I think once those are sorted they can then put on general sale what is left effectively.
As I’ve mentioned twice before, to go to all this effort, cost and logistics, there has to be some commitment from government somewhere otherwise they wouldn’t commit.
My post yesterday about Irene Hays, Hays Travel owner and/but government advisor in other areas, confirmed that they are selling these cruises with P&O from today. You can’t tell me she hasn’t had the ‘heads up’ in advance to start selling millions of pounds of cruises on a whim!!!???

spirit of discover goes back 27th June doing 2 UK cruises and then 2 Norway coastal, back to normal itineraries from 2nd august hopefully, those uk and coastal not on general sales yet while we work through consolidations, should be on general 6th April.

Spirit of adventures inaugural now 26th July 2021 around the UK, then normal planned itineraries from 10th August ??

It’s no coincidence to me, as I mentioned before in an early post about ‘messages from above’ to commit to selling and operating these.

Dame Irene Hays (owner/chair) works very closely with the government, and worked on Serco Track and Trace contracts throughout the pandemic for Hays employees.

You can take it these Seacations are pretty much nailed on unless something major goes wrong. GLA.

My chip in for what it’s worth. IMO - Traffic light system will be brought in, which will open up the mass market package travel operators to mainly EU destinations, only as far as Turkey to the East, down to Malta in the South and across to the Canaries in West and obviously the Balearics. Any other destinations, a much greyer picture.
I don’t see it as a coincidence that now all major Cruise Lines have announced UK water sailings, somewhere that guidance has to come from above to commit so heavily to that commitment and cost!?
So as Smorty said, have to agree entirely.
The line has to be draw somewhere now, without another Summer Season, most Operators will collapse, and EU destinations reliant on tourism will fall into disrepair. GLA, DYOR, IMHO :-)
