Farage is very good at conning people into thinking what's is good for him or is important to him is good/important to the man in the street, even when the man in the street will never have an account at Coutts.
It's just annoying NWG haven't covered themselves in glory (yet again).
Nice finish last Friday,. Made up for the slip towards 11p.
With a bit of luck that drop was just a blip and we can look forward to blue skies :)
Good luck all holders and hold tight :)
Just had a look at my email from simply wall street that told me one of your shares is up 52%. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be VAL and not just something on my watch list.
I haven'ti looked in here as VAL seemed to be in the doldrums. I had been considering averaging down, but wasn't particulary motivated., still a long way from I need to be to breakeven, but well done to anyone who brought a week or 2 ago. Let's see what happens over the next couple of weeks. Good luck all.
Nice if that was the case PB.
We haven't seen 30p in years, not that I don't think it will happen.
I have to admit when I brought back in 2011 I had no idea of how to value a company and it's only in recent years that I have even become aware of the idea of valuing companies rather than just guessing/wishing for a price.
I woukd be interested to hear from anyone who has a method to value a company that does not turn a profit.
Arguably yes. There would be fewer shares in circulation so when you divide the vale by the lower number of shares , those shares should be worth more.
That said you still got to take into account other factors, such as the debt issue mentioned below, or say legal issues that might relate to certain brands that DGE holds.
Arguably buy backs might obscure that things would otherwise be worse (share price speaking), but perhaps buy back might be a sensible way to preserve share price value. In a nutshell there's too much to a company like DGE to simply assume buybacks automatically translate into a higher share price.
Although its been up and down a bit this week, it been little more than changes in the spread and the SP itself has nicely settled in the 14-15p range. I don't like rapid movements , so now the excitement has died down a bit I am glad we have found a new level. I am looking forward to siting back again and just looking forward to another rise if there are good results.
Not sure if it is possible to come to a credable valuation on a loss making company.
Wish I had thought of that 11 years ago when I brought SCLP. I need circa 40p to break even. I suspect 20p is the price I would consider exiting if I had to.
AIM stocks have been much harder than I thought!
Good luck to all holders and I hope you get the target price you want.
Personally I would be interested to know how anyone has come up with value as it would help me understand how to value companies that don't yet produce profits.
Crikey I haven't looked in on VAL for a while. Seems to have been in the doldrums. I am still massively out of pocket, but nice to see a good day here.
Hopefully it's based on some substance and not an flurry of hype and pumping. Good luck all
I wouldn't get too excited by the prospect of a nasdaq listing cleaner world.
I remember how everyone got excited by argo blockchain going for it. Turned out to amount to nothing a ARB is now a proper sucker stock.
A listing might be a good thing if it happens, but I would not speculate on it. I still think the best policy right now is to hold tight or sell if you have reached your target (and are in prifit). Furher increases are certainly possible, but I would be cautious about adding at the moment.
Would be good if this is the case. I think this is the dangerous phase of rise in sp.
There are good signs, i.e. the possibility that there is someone accumulating, that the sp is holding dispite a drop off in volume. I think now is the time to step back and consider FOMO. If there are holders out there who have done well don't blow it now by being greedy as it could go either way ( but hopefully up) I would say hold for now.
I don't think a little speculation is a bad thing but I think its wise to get overexcited when it comes to biotech companies. The volume has dropped off the last few days, but thankfully the sp has remained stable. That's a pretty good result as things stand. It could go either way from this ponit. Nice if it goes up again back towards 25p.
I think it's a little bit optimistic to think about predicting where this could go.
To be fair this is a rather volatile company and I would certainly take advantage of another top up at 11p rather than where it is now.
I think the only sensible view when it comes to SCLP is not to get too excited by hype and have a clear view as to what price you want to buy and what price you want to sell. Worrying about if you could have done better will only result in second guessing yourself and making bad trades.
I was hoping for a nice gentle return to 13p over the next 2 to 3 months with little increases here and there, but it doesn't look like that's going in to happen given the last few days. Perhaps stop looking for now and come back in 6 months :(
Yes this has been disappointing of late and the current sp really isn't good and I don't feel particularly confident about topping up. This has always been a high risk company for holders.
That all said, this would have already gone to the wall if Satu and George were still at the helm. When we got rid of them there was someone (Suzy) who could be a credablely step in as a director. Unless there is another credable replacement I think all we can do is consider our appitite for risk and our view of the company and decide if we want to buy, sell or hold. It is worth noting that although there are 10 million Val shares out there we haven't reached the ponit of shares being issued like confetti like in the last few years of Satu and George and the number of shares in issue is increasing at a comparatively lower rate.
Good to see some positive movement today. Generally I don't like volitility like this, but it's what happens when prices are abnormally low and I am sure things will settle down again in a week or two. Fingers crossed for some nice slow steady growth soon.
Hi. Miavoce, agreed a lower price is more attractive than a higher one. The problem is the downward trending bit because tomorrow always looks like a better day to buy, i.e. no buying pressure to stop the decline or reverse it.
All I am saying is to be cautious and act on the basis of conviction and your own attitude to risk which is all anyone can expect of themselves when making an investment. It's very tempting for me to top up at these prices, but I am not blind to the prospect that there has been a sudden drop and buying at a higher price i.e. once the rot has stopped might be the less risky choice.
I think this is quite a stressful time to hold shares in SCLP. I am sure there will be some fear mongers on here as a result. I Also thin there is some legitimate reason to be concerned, this objectively a very low price, as a holder I am not doing well, but a downward trending price is not an attractive proposition to anyone wanting to make an investment. The best option now seems to be not to listen to either the nay sayers or those saying this is going to reverse soon, but to look back at the accounts and RNSs and think what is the best for you, hold, sell or buy because of your understanding of the company and not based on rumour, gossip or FOMO.
I don't think 5p is on the cards. The price has hung around 14 p for a long time. Yes it has started moving down, but I suspect this will not go much below 10p at worst and that won't happen this week or next. The decline simply seems to be the result of earlier enthusiasm wearing off rather than any real issue.
If I am honest I woukd say they don't have any time at all, but winding up a company does take a bit of time and effort. Being done by December 24 is all but a certainty. I wouldn't be surprised by December 23. Or end of summer 23.
No chance I am taking a last minute gamble on this lol.
Shame that a one time winer has fallen so hard in less than 8 years.
