Manipulation?8 Aug 2018 09:03
It is no coincidence that when a company has a fair share of short interest yet has strong share price momentum there are concerted attempts by some ( competitors/short funds) to shift sentiment. This often comes from a well placed article in a respected journal or newspaper or indeed a research note produced by a broker. Bankers, hedge fund managers, brokers etc are well connected, know each other from school, University etc and it is not that difficult for a few individuals to decide that from whatever reason they want to shift sentiment in a company or sector or individual. Some will decry this notion as a conspiracy theory but they will be Somewhat naive and not market savvy. This form of market manipulation happens often which reaffirms the importance of really understanding the company, its markets and potential and so it is important to retain faith when some throw a brick into the pond. The ripples will disappear in time.......
