Ah I’ve just realised why people were on about being uneconomic to go below 2,000m, I was talking at the time about drilling and I was inferring that drilling more than 2,000m becomes uneconomic and risky too of losing the drill bit or test gear.
It takes a really experienced driller to achieve a successful 2,000m drill and there aren’t that many about.
The mine orebody can be economical upto 2300m deep but heat, pressures, humidity, maintenance and travelling times all become expensive.
Robotics will help but manpower will still be needed

Explanation of that 3D image of the crescent which I mentioned in the podcast

There is a Crescent of HGZ about 550m long upto 75m wide in places between 0 and 350m of ore, then a “wall” (or half a crescent) between 350-700 , the sulphides carry on around but are not so thick and grades are a bit lower.
The latest drills went below these 2 levels under the “wall” under the end of the Decline

These areas may indicate what the mining plan will reveal.
Which is why I’m saying focus should be now on the mining plan

Havieron 84m x 11 = 935.00

The 60 angle is measured from the horizontal
Cosine rule so 2,000 x 0.5 = 1,000
Sin rule so 2,000 x .866 = 1,732
The smaller the angle the smaller the vertical measurement and longer horizontal

This is the miners description of where I got my tour idea from:-
“ I reference board and pillar as I see this as a fast way to get ore into mill ....... ie we xcut perpendicular into the ore body immediately from a haulage we progress around the ore body either side of the dyke.
The haulage is in waste but all the xcuts are into ore in high grade.
We then cut away the boards leaving pillars.
I dont know how many cuts they could take or even if they would access again lower down. That would depend on the dimension of pillars they are able to leave.
Anything from 20m to 30m height possible I suggest.?

How far in are they likely to go ?
Really as fare as they want. ie if they encounter a barren patch they could cut through it looking for grade. This would help give them valuable info on the ore body as a whole.

By this time there is lots of gold out.
And the decline is well past first line of SLC.
All depends on ground conditions.

From that you can imagine a tunnel (haulage) running east and west from the Decline and tunnels (x cuts)off the haulage into the ore.
I don’t think there will be many barren spots to find.

Getting first ore out is crucial and it’s getting nearer to that time

1,000m horizontally would get to 1732m below surface at 60 degrees that would be on top of the NW extension

The drill length drilling underground may be constrained by where the Decline position is.
I can only see them in filling immediately below what they already know, near vertical drills will be limited to where the Decline is, as will angle drilling.
From the end of the Decline at 420m deep at 60 degrees it would miss the 1700m depth of the present Eastern Breccia, so would be needed to be a lot lower for that.
From that point though it might get to that level in the Northern extension but whether there is enough room for all the equipment at the drill pad I wouldn’t like to say.

My extreme dimensions of the bottom ovoid I would like to match the magnetic survey of 1,000m x 1,000m , will it reach that size well there is a chance it could be close, it’s still open to the NW,N, E and SE

You are correct in saying it will be years ahead that it will be mined but you’ve missed the point it needs to be thought about now for the mine planning.
A wrong move now could put major expense on to the project in the future or lose future production

This is a chat I had with a mining chap re depth
“Bamps the mining depth is constrained by shaft engineering and ventilation which is responsive to temperature of country rock.”
“Generally 700m ..... 1500m and 2300m are significant numbers and often occur as bottom of shaft ie one lift...... rope size and strength.
2400m is very demanding and requires high speed hoisting of men materials and rock.
To go deeper sub vertical shafts are required. So to get to bottom of mine it will involve two shaft journeys and often a decent haulage transport.
This reduces time at the face for workers.
For ore it's two shaft hoists and ore transfer between shafts.
Expensive !!!
Needs good grades to pay for it !!!
Obviously other shaft lengths are available........”

My 2,300m allowed for 1,000m depth of bottom ovoid which is 1900 of ore and 400 of cover.

Gwalia I believe is heading down to 2300
The deepest in Australia is 1800 at moment but it’s not bulk caving

Gwalia are intending to truck their ore out that is a costly way of doing it. I don’t think that they are bulk caving, that method, that deep I’m not sure if that’s been tried yet.
This ore body is unique in it’s vertical nature and is so good for bulk caving , so it could go deeper but 2,300 is a mighty long way

It is possible to go deeper if the grades stay around the 2g/t even though there maybe less copper but it had to make economic sense to do so
