Lol. Not motivated?
Perhaps put yourself in their shoes.
“Hi, we’re moving to West London because Fiona likes it there. Hope you all love a £5k season ticket and sitting on trains, best wishes AS”.
Not sure if this included Amrik but 12 were leaving/left at one point end of 2021/early 2022.
Hard to recruit right now. Especially for scientists in London.
From what I heard it was not well received. Not sure if it was true but I heard that they didn’t get offered redundancy as it was <50 miles away, like 47 as the crow flies. Lots of the team left.
“ AS also happy to let his CSO take the lead on this RNS. Unusual not to have a comment from him”
AFAIK it was her vanity project. Wanted to put her mark on Therapeutics, and London because it’s closer to where she lives and where she has always worked.
Obviously plenty of staff didn’t fancy the move from great labs in Whittlesford, and especially when they saw the season ticket prices. Voted with their feet.
Really? I thought it was insider trading to own shares in a company you work for? Perhaps it’s not, and the restrictive periods of selling mean even if you know something you can’t sell anyway.
I just thought it would be brutal to see the SP shoot from 20p to 180p in your probationary period. Then get granted at 180p when colleagues who joined only a few months before (mid 2019) got a sweet granting at 20p! Maybe it’s just my company’s scheme that works in this way!
Not sure how Avacta’s EMI works but mine (Small AIM biotech) isn’t amazing to be honest. We get granted shares at the end of our 6 month probationary period. Seems like a lot of luck is involved. I always wondered if Avacta’s is the same: ie if you joined in late 2019 and had a 6 month probationary, you had to sit and watch whilst the SP exploded until you got granted in May/June 2020. I guess you have no obligation to buy them. Ours vest 1/3rd every 18 months for 4.5 years. Even then there are limits on when you can sell. It would be better to just buy shares yourself if you really believed in the company! If that wasn’t illegal of course.
1.8 trillion dollars? Lolwhat.
Looks like a plenary or panel discussion. An early morning one judging by the size of the crowd!
From what I understand Avacta have a poster. Not sure it can’t happen, but I’d be pretty surprised if they announce they’ve cured cancer in the back of a hanger to a few scientists passing by. Stranger things have happened, I guess.
How come they didn’t get a speaking slot?
Pretty sure the new senior management wanted it to be there. Pity the boots on the ground didn’t fancy the commute. Don’t blame them. Scientists get paid badly. Cambridge is bad enough, London is laughable.
By scaling up, you mean replacing those that didn’t want to move?
I wouldn’t read that much into the current vacancies. They are out of date, surely. Not sure why they aren’t advertising for any positions on the therapeutic side, considering the number of staff that have left in the last 6 months. Perhaps re-location an issue.
Probably replacing someone after the exodus?
Maybe he lives in London.
I think the next update will be about the lab move.
Ah the old comparing Monday to Tuesday mistake.
What’s the increase versus last Tuesday?
Maybe. Hopefully it’ll drive up vaccination rates.
Short term it certainly looks bleak. Long term I’d look at Japan/Israel. Presume Avacta aren’t going to try selling LFTs there!
Yeah, this is great news.
Faster spreading, but not causing symptoms!
This news plus the amazing effectiveness (cases in 70+ are dropping) of the boosters is really great news. Endgame of the pandemic for the U.K.
Was browsing my LinkedIn and noticed Amrik has updated his profile in the last few days. Took him a while!
Think everyone had put two and two together but remember some people saying “but he still says CSO on LinkedIn”.
Apologies if already highlighted by others.
@sang
Amrik left in July.
Scardey:
Sorry I wasn’t clear. No idea if Amrik had warning but his colleagues certainly didn’t. And this happened weeks ago. I presume he’s on gardening leave.
I alluded to it then (When Poirot was LinkedIn stalking some new recruits).
