Personally I think VOD is a cash flow monster, that's clear from the figures. Debt is reduced also. I think div will at least be maintained for the foreseeable.

I have not heard that this is a current issue. Banks would have known that interest rates will one day go up and credit checked accordingly after the lessons learned during 2008.

Firstly, 2008/9 was a completely different beast. This was subprime mortgages. The current situation is entirely different, and cannot be compared.

Secondly, what crash are you talking about. I have not seen house prices "crashing" in any form, and indeed, last month they have once again been on the rise.

I think the rate rise, be it 0.25 or 0.5 was mainly priced in yesterday and this morning.

Might drop a bit more, but I doubt it will "drop like a stone" since most have been expecting the rate rise since yesterday.

I hold both, HB's and travel co's, so I rationalize both ways.

The annual holiday abroad is sacred to most brits, and nothing is going to get in the way. We would rather starve.

On the other side of the coin, keeping the roof overhead, should they really be that stretched, should take priority.

Recessions are great for banks. Repossessing all of these lovely properties for resale later once it's all recovered, whilst gobbling up deposits and fees is a great way for banks to make money. They just don't want you to know it.
