I wasn't suggesting that Invesco have loaned the shares out short, I was suggesting that the market makers who fulfilled the order and sold the 30-67 million shares to them didn't have them to sell. So they are now short and will need to buy them from somewhere to square their position.

A current holder would have to RNS notify within 3 days, could have been a holder under 3% so notification not required. Also don't know if Invesco had any position at all previously so it could have been the full 5.47%
I think the market makers have just taken this trade ( you don't say no to a big client like Invesco ) so will now be short of these shares. ( could be 67 million of them )

That article does not say its saved and if it did that would not in my view be good news for DEB

Its a beautiful theory and the exact opposite of a take over arbitrage trade.
Shorts here were up a touch in July 0.8% increase over the month.
Dec 17 was the high then reduced every month around 0.8% until July

I think that might be the House of Fraser deal the owner of Hamleys has pulled out. Sports Direct made and offer and were sent packing hes now taken House of Fraser to court. Sports Direct has about a £40 Mill stake in Fraser and about £140+ Mill in DEBs.
I know no one here likes DEBs / retail but its one to keep on the watch list
