I think its just a way of getting more exposure for less $$ they do it in the US all the time buying put or call options.

It would make sense to me if Goldman were shorting Brent, they would use the CFD here as a hedge.
So no I don't think they are shorting but I do think after taking their profit on the Brent short they will also make on the PMO long CFD. Now what was the price they paid between 70 and 75p on the 11th Dec

Why would he offer ( genuinely ) to lend £40m. As Debs said they didn't like the conditions he attached I would say it was clearly an attempt to take more control and drive us under. As he can see he might not be able to take this over as he wanted.
