In my view the shorters predicted/ followed the oil price down. Nymex net longs had been dropping while PMO shorts increased. The downgrade is just the analysts lowering there predictions for Brent next year.

Thats true we've also had a downgrade from Berenberg today to 90p perhaps someone should email the analyst to tell them they are wrong like they did on Enquest.

There was a heck of a lot of auto sells yesterday from around 3pm which dropped the price from above 79 to 76.4
and more this morning too.
As I've said before they have shorted this down from the 90s to 55 with 13% stock on loan showing on Euroclear at end Dec 18 So they will be looking for an exit at the right time, whenever that is. Lets see them hold onto their shorts when Brent is in the $70s again !

From Jan 3 to today Brent has gained $5
What would be the SP effect of the same Nov update if it were issued tomorrow I wonder ?

Thats possible but in this instance I think not. Who in their right mind would have gone long oil on its decent ( to need the hedge with PMO ) I think we were shorted from the high 90s down to the mid 50s
Oil longs had been dropping fast during the decent from the $80s.
